One Aggie's opinion of a potential move to the SEC:

One of the most compelling reasons many Aggies desire a move to the SEC: night Games in Death Valley. I was a student at A&M from 1992-1996 (ish), the last four football seasons of the LSU/A&M series (’92-’95 seasons) and this was the most anticipated game on our schedule for myself and many of my buddies. Road trips to Baton Rouge were epic, and LSU fans coming to Kyle Field was always a damn good time (although some parts in the wee hours of the morning are a little foggy, you boys can drink a little…).

Generally speaking, most of us are smart enough to realize that a move to the SEC is a sink or swim proposition, the quality of the competition goes up several notches in your league, but the idea of playing games like the LSU games that I remember so fondly from my days in College Station on a weekly basis against the other SEC teams is a die-hard college football fans dream come true.

Hopefully our BOR can get this deal done, our program can continue the improvement under third year coach Sherman that many of us are cautiously optimistic is coming, and we can have many years of incredibly entertaining football in our future with y’all.

On a side note, I know some ‘Bama fans have a disdain for us about the whole coach fraud deal; all I will say about that is that he punished us worse than anyone in the history of our program. Hopefully Tidefans can find solace in that fact should we make the transition to your league.

If it happens... welcome to the SEC. I think LSU/A&M rivalry will quickly overcome the made up rivalry between LSU and ARk.

I've got no anger whatsoever over the Coach Fran deal...and never had any toward A&M in the matter anyway.
I'm all for A&M coming to the SEC, and have been posting some words of encouragement on Texags.com

Hope you guys make the best move you could possibly make, and stiffarm Texas on your way East!

It seems like there is a lot of support for A&M to the SEC from both sides (at least from what I read on here). The only thing that seems to go agaisnt it is all the talk of Texas and the Texas state legislature.

I never felt any disdain towards A&M directly because of Franchione. I did root against ya'll while he was there (except for that game against UT in the Cotton Bowl....I rooted for a tornado). I never rooted against ya'll before, and I haven't since.

Of course I did enjoy this immensely....

I think all LSU and SEC fans want TAMU. I could care less about UT, but I WANT TAMU. They just "fit."

On behalf of all Bama fans, we don't give a frick anymore. I have seen near unanimous support from Bama fans inviting aTm to the SEC.

On a side note, if you do come into the league, I can't wait to make fun of you weirdos.

As a LSU student in the 70's I remember Carl Roaches giving us fits in Tiger Stadium. Would love to renew the great series between the 2 Agriculture schools!

Another talking point that comes up frequently in our conversations about moving into your conference is conference pride: that was virtually non-existent in the big 12 and will likely be even worse in the pac-16. I’ve lurked on several SEC boards for a while and the conference pride you all have is an awesome thing to behold. I know that the minute we sign up for the SEC you guys will clown us mercilessly, but the second the okies or horns get involved it would be a very different story. This is the way college football is supposed to be, a conference should be a family: you can’t stand your oddball cousin but god help the outsider that picks a fight with them…

i lived in Houston for 15 yrs after graduating from LSU. And this was during the time A&M turned the tables (or Archerallmann did, I guess) and started whupping us.

I am serious when I say that this game would quickly become again at least the 2nd most important game to both schools. And taking over 1st place in the LSU rivalry pecking order is pretty well within reach for A&M, since none of us LSU fans can agree on who is #1.

Man, I'm gonna be so disappointed if this move doesn't happen...and I'll feel a little sad for Texas A&M...the appearance is going to be akin to a battered wife going back to her husband and moving out of town...you just KNOW she's going to be in for an ever rougher ride than she's had.

it was my misfortune to make the '89 road trip to College Station. if i recall, part of the stadium was getting expanded then. i think the stadium has been expanded since as well?

anyway, most ag fans we met were great...some of the traditions are a little hokey but what the hey?

wouldn't mind a bit going back a bit.

I will be more than disappointed, I'll be downright pissed. If our BOR leaves an offer to join the SEC on the table to join the PAC-16 I will lose all faith in our leadership. From the overwhelming sentiment that our fanbase is showing about wanting to go to the SEC the BOR might have a good old fashioned Mishigan State style riot on their hands...
