At this point, is it news that MU looks headed for SEC? Read more: https://campuscorner.kansascity.com/node/2167#ixzz1bdG9af47
quote:

On Saturday, and again today, I’ve talked to all sorts of people familiar with the situation both at Missouri and elsewhere and every single one anticipates Missouri and the SEC will announce Mizzou as the 14th member of the SEC at some point this week.

I have been told Brady Deaton, the MU chancellor, plans to attend in person the Big 12 Board of Directors meeting scheduled for Monday in Dallas.

Deaton is not revealing if he will formally inform the Big 12 Conference of Missouri’s conditional withdrawal (the condition being SEC acceptance) at that meeting. But it would be in keeping with the style of the man who has been authorized to make this decision by Board of Curator decree that he would not deliver such news in a fax or a telephone call.

As for the if and when of the Missouri/SEC courtship coming to fruition, the bet here is that it comes down my midweek, Thursday at the latest.

Folks may not like adding Mizzou, but adding another AAU school means the SEC will have four in 2012, doubling it's current number in one year and ensuring more AAU members than the Big XII.

It also ensures that other SEC universities have a greater chance at being added in the future, should they meet requirements ... We are still talking about Universities, and not the NFL, after all ...

Mizzou won't threaten the SEC power balance, and will have an opportunity to either grow or fail on their own merits. Adding Mizzou to the East means that traditional SEC rivalries are likely to survive.

And, once the SEC/ESPN/SEC Network partnership comes online in a couple of years, no one will be griping about all of those homes in St. Louis and Kansas City and the SEC Network subscriptions they bring in. Same for Houston, D/FW, San Antonio, etc.

So, in short, Slive and the SEC University presidents have laid the groundwork for a $$$-making conference network, improved the conference academic prestige , and brought in new members that don't ruin the SEC power balance, but have a chance to grow and compete, or not. Not a bad year's work.

I am hoping that the SEC network will be a Fox partnership or even CBS. CBS is trying to break into college football (outside of already having the SEC) with CBS Sports. I pretty much detest the people in Bristol at this point.

PowerMizzou (missouri rivals site) is saying they heard from 3 different sources that Mizzou withdraws from Big 12 tomorrow.

c'mon man, you are embarrasing yourself. i would love to see LSU continue their academic climb and be selected. one of my biggest frustrations for over 40 years is that LSU fans readily open their wallets up for the football program and get very tight with contributions to the university (general statement of course as many do contribute).

And in perfect keeping with the conference realignment process ...
