If OU leaves, just like A&M, Baylor will aggressively go after them. Pac 12 will probably ask for the same waiver like SEC and OU will be stone-walled.
What a sad commentary. It's like being married to a shrill 400lb wife that won't give you a divorce no matter how much you want out.

No.
Oklahoma and Oklahoma State are staying together even more than OU and Texas.
Barry Switzer was on a radio show yesterday and he talked a lot about the importance of OU staying with Texas. And that meant that there was no way they could move to the SEC.

What would Oklahoma State have to say about that?
1. OSU is OU's little brother in football and since it is football driving all this b.s., OU is obviously in the drivers seat.
2. OSU and OU are the only two major public universities in the state. Each school has about the same amount of power and influence in the state.
3. It is a general consensus after last summer that OU and OSU are a packaged deal.

Clearly you don't know Oklahoma as well as you think.

He is off-base here.
OU and OSU aren't splitting up. That means OU isn't coming to the SEC.
Most likely, OU either goes to the Pac 16, along with Oklahoma State, Texas, and Texas Tech, OR they stay in the Big 12 with Texas and the conference adds a 10th team after A&M leaves.

how many teams have switched conferences in the past 20 years? And now all of the sudden you can sue to keep that from happening? wake me up in a few months to let me know how this ends up, I've had enough.

100% correct

meh. i could see the SEC taking both if the goal was to get to 16 teams immediately.

The SEC doesn't want to be responsible for murdering the Big 12.
If we just take A&M, and then Oklahoma stays in the Big 12, then it could be "no harm, no foul."

well if you are gonna get sued anyways, might as well get the goodies for it.
Posted on 9/7/11 at 5:07 pm to jcole4lsu
if OU and OSU are a package they'll reform the Big 8 with Texas, Baylor, ISU, KSU, Missouri, Kansas
if you need them for 12, take Memphis, Houston, SMU, and UTEP
whoever gets OU, why would they want OSU? no new markets, no national fans, all they have is T Boone

I might be off base. Hell, maybe the SEC takes them both, I don't know
but the OU pres said that their school was prepared to surprise everyone, and jumping to the Pac X wouldn't be a surprise at all.. hell, staying in the Big X would be more of a surprise at this point

really they should just add boise, byu, and tcu and have a real conference.
Posted on 9/7/11 at 5:14 pm to Dr Drunkenstein
This entire drama is making me loathe Texas more and more. They started it all. The rest of the conference just sits there and eats their shite, and just because A&M says "we're sick of it" and finally finds a way out, all the little chickenshit schools start throwing a fit.
Poor A&M. I guess whenever you signed the bylaws of this conference back in 1995, you should have gotten someone with half a brain to know what you were getting into. At some point, it looks like you and Texas could end up being forced to stay together for the kids.

Oklahoma has already said where they go, OSU goes. OU already said they dont want anything to do with the SEC.
Some of yall are just throwing shite out there without reading a damn thing about what is going on. quit throwing out every dunbass idea that comes into your head.
Baylor has no case precedent to sue on. all previous legal cases like this has been thrown out and not even made it to trial and so will this case.
this will get sorted out one of three ways
1) Baylor and the other dumbasses will drop the lawsuit. (most likely to happen.)
2)A&M caves( way less likely to happen then the other 2 scenarios)
3) A&M leaves conference anyways or stays and kicks the shite out of Baylor in court.
and truth be told Baylor has no legal case but if Baylor stops A&M from leaving then A&M has a very very good case against Baylor for loss revenue and tort interference and they will play that hand if they have too.
oh and Dr D, you sir are a typical UT douchbag. And if OU and OSU leaves then the conference is dead. A&M is gone one way or the other. And beating the lil sisters of the poor left in that conference is not going to get you anything. that conference will lose its BCS qualifying status in less then 5 years. then UT is screwed.

Because this isn't a corporate takeover or business aquisition. Oklahomans care about the well being of other Oklahomans. Don't think it is that difficult of a concept.

a 12-0 Texas with wins over Houston, SMU, Baylor, Iowa State, Texas State, Tulane and other rent a wins vs ANYONE else at 11-1 or 10-2... Texas wont even be a shadow of the Big East....
And the other BCS leagues would likely all boycott UT on football OOC games to make sure they cannot play for the title.
Essentially, Texas would have to play, say, Boise State every year and hope to get Notre Dame (likely on ND's terms) to get their SOS up where it needs to be.
ND would do it, too. Play UT in Dallas every other year at Arlington.

But they do keep the Longhorn network. And they can even make Baylor, Iowa State, Kansas, KState, and Missouri all put little "I heart longhorn" stickers on the back of their helmets. And before every Big XII game, they can make every school say "I will suck UT's dick forever, because I will never have any autonomous say in anything in my worthless, godforsaken life. WE ARE. BIG XII. HOOK EM' HORNS!" right before the national anthem.
