I would welcome the TAMU in the SEC under one condition.

You have to get female cheerleaders, preferably hot ones

I do wonder though when TAMU get in would their fan base feel they are too good to chant the "SEC" victory chant in games that matters.

They're already arguing on which game to chant it for this season. Check texags.com.

I have a feeling you might hear the familiar SEC chant during the 4th quarter of the Baylor game.

We argue this ancient tradition on TexAgs incessantly. The old school hard arse Ags want nothing to do with this. Younger more progressive Ags are receptive to hot females in scantily clad unis jumping, kicking, etc.

I for one think a blend of some kind would be great. Alternate every yell leader with a hottie-

Problem solved.

Honestly - will never happen.... Tradittion is too important on this one.

Ask Ole Miss how that same line turned out for them

AginAL.. we did get the dance team for basketball, and yes it's not exactly ground-breaking at least it was a move forward. I'd be all for some female yell-leaders out there in short-arse white shorts and shirts, can't go wrong with that. Traditions don't have to die, they just need to expand!

Why can't you have yell-leaders and cheerleaders as well?

Its a shame with all the hot women in Texas that you just have a bunch of dudes.

Never understood why you can't just have both. The Yell Leaders will have the infinitely more important job while the girls dance and look pretty.

I never saw why you cant have both.

For now y'all will have to make due with us only having a dance team for basketball games.

I vote for the Arkansas game. With the Razorback fans joining in.

Honestly, it doesn't add to or detract from the game either way. I would say, though, that under Title IX, if the school is sponsoring male cheerleaders (call them Yell Leaders if you want), then someday someone will force TAMU's hand on this.

And then... you get a new tradition, old guard be damned.

the only way this will happen is at the beginning of the game. i don't see tamu chanting it in unison with us if we whip your arse, or hog fans chanting it with you if the aggies win.

It's pretty ghey to chant SEC at the end of an SEC conference game. And it's pretty ghey to speculate losing to a non-SEC school until that school is officially an SEC contender.

TAMU doing the SEC chant against Baylor and then somehow end up staying in the B12-2? Very funny!

What the hell are the cheerleaders going to do? Most cheerleaders I've ever seen sit there and squeal nonsense. They'd be much better if they had a mute button (don't get me started on my local high school and now its competitors micing the cheerleaders).

At least the yell leaders can get 30k+ people doing the same yell at once.

I am referring to our game that we have played for the past two years, and will for 7 more with aTm. you do know that we play them every year already? Maybe I'm reading your post wrong; it's still early for me.

Yell leaders are elected. There is no gender requirement.

Cheerleaders wouldn't fit at A&M. All you'd be asking them to do is preen for the camera. There are ways to get pretty girls on camera without the charade of a cheerleading team if that is the goal.

We have the dance team at basketball games, and that's worked out because they have been integrated into the game. But, that came about in large part because the Aggie band no longer plays at basketball game--instead, we have a pep band that is more like what you find at other schools. With the FTAB firmly fixed in place at Kyle Field, there's really no place for the dance team.

As high up as most of our seats are, the only folks who would get a good look at cheerleaders or a dance team are a few thousand people on the first deck. It's really more of an issue for TV than it is for fans in attendance at the games.
