Just a hunch. I was warming to the idea of Missouri being #14 after not liking the idea but only if they were willing to be an SEC East team. All the speculation has them as a West addition which causes chaos for a number of teams and traditional rivalries.

If Missouri isn't willing to join the SEC East and we can't have Va Tech, I wouldn't mind having NC State. They are easily the most football friendly school in NC and are the most likely get for the SEC out of that state. They are a solid academic research university and would add a nice chunk of the NC TV market. They have the potential to be a nice middle of the road SEC football program as well.

nc state is technically part of the unc system, and shares a board with unc.

Getting the SEC footprint in North Carolina would be awesome.

I agree, but I doubt it comes from UNC or NC State.

Would East Carolina be worth it? I don't think so

All public universities in NC are part of the UNC board. It's their version of a Board of Regents. Each university is independent though.

I'm not 100% sure on that either.

I doubt it happens, but I would really like that fit.

I agree. If we can't get UNC or NC State then sadly we need to wave good-bye to North Carolina.

Why do you think NC St. Is more likely than UNC to leave?
On a pipe dream side note, since UNC is by far the more prestigious and has better athletics, they should be the more desirable of the 2. No?

UNC would definitely be a better get than NC State, but I think the chance of getting UNC is tiny. They and Duke are really the heart of the ACC. They seem to run the conference and I don't see them breaking up and leaving.

NC State also seems like a bit of a long-shot, but more likely than UNC. NC State has always been in the shadow of UNC and moving to the SEC would be a way to differentiate themselves (kinda like Texas A&M telling Texas to kiss off). Simply put, they have more to gain and less to lose from a move than UNC. Hence the speculation that they might be open to the SEC.

UNC would never leave Duke.

This.

UNC will never leave the ACC, especially after the additions of Syracuse and Pitt.. and possibly UCONN.

My exact reasoning for why NC State would be best "gettable" ACC team located in either NC or VA. Well said

We should get NC State. They aren't good at football, they haven't been for a while, they're easily the little brother in the state, they have a shitty fan base, they would get the shite kicked out of them in the SEC.

They'd fit right in with A&M. What a great cross-division rivalry that would be.

And as bad as they've been in basketball lately, they would probably be a top 6 team in the SEC.

Oh yea. Maybe better than that.

A&M should be good in basketball too.
