Big 12 - Enormous JOKE

Talk about screwing the pooch. Texas had literally "bullshitted" OU, OSU, and TT into going down a path toward the PAC 10.
Then, A&M decided to shop around and found a buyer, the SEC.
Nebraska accepted a much better offer than staying with Texas.
Colorado found mile-high happiness with the PAC 10.
And in the end, Texass was shown to be nothing but a money grubbing school. Hookem any way you want to, Texass screwed over the rest of the Big 12. They will NEVER see the type of money paid to SEC schools. They will however play a weak schedule, year in, year out.

The worst part about this is that TAMU and OU in the end just took a bribe to get back in line with Texas.

I'm sure you know but There will no longer be a Big 12 championship game because there are only 10 teams in the conference. NCAA says a conference must have 12 teams for a championship game.
So, with that soft-assed conference we can all look forward to the TX/OU game equaling a semifinal for the BCS championship.

I think the PAC 10 and Big 10 both look like they tried to upgrade. The Big 12 only downgraded.

with that weak arse conference, they will never pass another undefeated SEC or Big ten team. they have to hope to finish undefeated and have everyone else lose at least one.

One of those two will.

ESPN probably promised to champion the winner of the new Big 12 to play in the NC game.

It will do one of two things: it will either allow Texas easier access to a BCS bowl or it will make it tougher. I will go with the later due to strength of schedule.

quote:Impossible--the rest of the Big 12 can vote Texas out. But they won't.
Texass screwed over the rest of the Big 12.
I hate Texas--I really do--but they did nothing wrong or unethical here. When there are three piles of money, and you're told that you can pick one, you pick the bigger pile. That doesn't make you a villain.

Look, Texass is for Texass, not other members of the conference.
I really can't imagine an SEC school attempting to screw another SEC school out of money. If you are part of the club in the SEC, you are an equal member.
Vanderbilt isn't treated like a step child. New members, S. Carolina and Arkansas are accepted as equals. And former members such as Tulane are still scheduled by SEC schools.
No, Texass appears greedy and not a good partner.

texas damn sure stands a better chance to be in a bcs game by staying with all their weak sisters. if the horns had have gone to the pac 10, or god forbid the sec, their chances of winning the bcs would have been cut in half, or more. by getting their own tv rights, the $ makes sense. also the fact they will still get to beat up on the patsies in the big 12 will keep all the high dollar alumni full of pride. all the $ the confernece have discovered may mean ok state can use some of thier millions to go after their old coach. maybe they will pitch in on the buyout. ha !!!

BU/ISU/KU/KSU/MO/OK/OSU/A&M/TT can simply vote Texas out of the Big 12; it would take seven votes. Why don't they just do that? Answer: because it is best for them to maintain their association with Texas.

The SEC is comfortable because they have a bazillion dollars. If they woke up tomorrow and they had a bazillion dollars minus one, things would change quick.

The SEC didn't screw over conference members when the NCAA was handing out the money. Now that the SEC is controlling its own finances, they are still standing together.
TEXASS on the other hand was attempting to destroy the Second Conference in less than 20 years.
So, comparing the behavior of Texass to SEC schools behavior is laughable.
BAMA has a far greater pedigree than Texas, but doesn't act in a similar manner. Why?
Why do SEC teams chant SEC, SEC? Because conference affiliation means something.
Nobody will be chanting Big 12 anytime soon. And nobody will be cheering for Texass, except those wearing burnt orange and singing "I've been working on the railroad" with different lyrics.

It will almost assure them of a BCS bowl every year. But I think it may hurt them when it come to the BCS championship game. If they do make it they will have played hardly noone and will not be "battle tested" They may also not get the nod if they have one loss over teams with better SOS.

The South comes together better than other parts of the country. I think it goes back to the civil war. We no longer have the CSA, so the SEC is our united group.

Maybe so. Texass was part of the CSA too. What happened to that bunch?
Then again, people hate the Dallas Cowboys for the same arrogance.

Texas had the second largest SDS Chapter (Students for a Democratic Society) in the 60s -- second only to Berkely.
Then Willie moved here.
Then the Californians.
Now they think they are Californians.

Texas saw multiple piles of money, and they took what appeared to be the biggest one. Is there a bigger pile of money waiting for Alabama? No.
