I mean in the actual story. Their spokesperson says this.
Missouri hoped to join the Big Ten last year but the league instead chose Nebraska. The university official said the Big Ten remains Missouri's top choice but that conference "has no interest."
"That's what's left," the official said, referring to the SEC.

Dumb move by Mizzou. There's already a lot of backlash about this expansion plan and you're going to spout off about wanting another league more? Before the SEC presidents have even voted to accept you?
I hope the SEC tells them to send their application to the Big 10.

Along with their AAU membership and the STL & KC TV markets? So the SEC can invite Tulsa?
Mizzou is as good as it's going to get.

ESPN has made a tremendous investment in the Big 12 by way of their deal with Texas. Missouri and A&M leaving the Big 12 is a big blow, so naturally ESPN is going to do what it can to stop that. It's sad when an entity that's supposed to report the news, tries to fabricate and make it's own.

Missouri is in a position geographically where either the Big Ten or the SEC is a possibility--can't fault them for considering both.

The Big should be their first choice - don't know that i understand the resistance (an AAU member ).
SEC offers the stability & financial rewards that is the motivation behind a move. I'm not convinced they choose the SEC with the split between their academic & athletic factions. They will have to spend a lot to be competitive.
BigE will be in the bidding, but needless to say, they are pretty unstable.
They should stay where they are & accept the Bevo arse whipping. Ego is a negative emotion in good business decisions.

Agreed. This reeks of someone with an obvious agenda. I wouldn't be surprised if it's someone in the administration who has no pull in the decision or one of the curators who was against the move. I'd take no stock in this comment.

Yeah. Not very good PR. They may want to hold out for an offer from a conference they REALLY want. A&M WANTS to be in the SEC ABOVE ANY OTHER CONFERENCE.
The SEC should reconsider any offer as well. Misery will jump ship at the first offer from B1G, and they will make the offer if doing so throws off the balance in their favor.

They may be doing everything in their power to derail it. It's simply a question of intent. They want it to stay together so bad, for the sake of the Longhorn FailWork that they have acted like complete idiots, to the point of derailing the very thing they are trying to preserve.

Hence the fact that certain factions in Mizzou wanted BIG10 over SEC should not be considered. Either they are a good addition to our conference or they are not. If we think them a flight risk we either need to accept that risk or build in safeguards to protect the other members of the league.

And you know the Big 10 would ask them down the line, if only to derail the SEC. Missouri will be flashing their skirts towards the north the entire time they're in this conference, which probably wont be long.

Exactly. I would rather have those yankees at WV over Misery, based on that info.

or maybe they are just putting out info about other conferences as CYA protection from KStarr getting lawsuit happy towards the SEC?
who cares? its not an official comment.

History begs to differ:
quote:
West Virginia became a state following the Wheeling Conventions, breaking away from Virginia during the American Civil War. The new state was admitted to the Union on June 20, 1863, and was a key Civil War border state. West Virginia was the only state to form by seceding from a Confederate state, and was one of only two states formed during the American Civil War (the other one being Nevada, which separated from Utah Territory).
West Virgina is Yankee Rebel Scum

I Assure you that he was ONE bitter person at Mizzou. That doesnt represent the vast majority that want to join this Conference and no we have absolutely no intention of ditching you guys to go to the Rustbelt Conference. Honestly it really pissed Me off whoever said that. Its just an agenda and ESPN running with it as to keep Missouri in this Terrible Conference.
