Louisiana doesn't produce a ton of QB talent, which is pretty obvious given LSU's recent struggles.
You do, however, produce a wealth of RB and WR talent. Going to the air raid wouldn't make a ton of sense. LSU needs better management/more creativity, but definitely would be best off keeping the pro style, or doing something similar to what Alabama's doing (basically, whatever is working at the time... hard to call Alabama's offense anything in particular)

I don't want a guy who's just had recent success
I want someone with a track record of high-scoring offenses that includes stellar QB play

Not a sexy, up and coming type name but
Frank Scelfo who is currently running Frank Wilson's offense at UTSA
Put 4 Tulane QBs in the NFL - Pat Ramsey and JP Losman (1st rd), Shaun King (2nd Rd) and Lester Richard.
10 year run at Tulane
quote:
The New Iberia native produced Tulane's all-time passing leader (Ramsey), all-time rushing and all-purpose yardage leader (Mewelde Moore), all-time touchdown receptions leader (Roydell Williams) and all-time scoring leader (Seth Marler).
Moore also became only the second player in NCAA history to rush for more than 4,000 yards and receive for more than 2,000 yards during his time under Scelfo.
A total of eight Tulane offensive players were selected in the NFL Draft during Scelfo's tenure, including running back Jerald Sowell (1997, 7th round), King (1999, 2nd round), wide receiver JaJuan Dawson (2000, 3rd round), offensive lineman Bernard Robertson (2001, 5th round), Ramsey (2002, 1st round), Losman (2004, 1st round), Moore (2004, 4th round) and Williams (2005, 4th round).
Spent 3 years at LA Tech, so he knows LA (from New Iberia, too)
Moved on to U of Arizona, where he mentored Nick Foles (3rd Rd pick)
Then went to the Jaguars as their QB coach - you can see what he did with Blake Bortles by looking at how much Bortles has regressed this season
Frank and Frank has UTSA bowling this year for the first time in team history. Would be interesting to see what Scelfo could do with some real talent

I may be misremembering but I thought Arizona State had a pretty good up and coming OC
If you are thinking about Mike Norvell from last year, he is the head coach at Memphis. And he is doing very well there.
His OC looks pretty good. I think he was on that same ASU staff, as well. They run a very balanced version of spread, with a lot of single back looks in the gun and pistol. They are very creative with getting WR in space at the edge, getting their TEs involved in the passing game, and using their backs to continually test the center of the defense. Think a more balanced version of Ole Piss' offense with the running backs actually getting the ball.
Their OC is still too green for this job, though.

I always said Miles actually plays to the strength of his recruiting base. This state can turn out rbs so run the ball. Also with chavis, strength was with the dbs and the tweeners that d faired well against spread teams. La always loaded with athletes on defense.
LSU can't just go changing shite up if they don't have the players.

coach o wants a multiple pro style offense, the people u listed run spread offenses not prostyle.

I didn't post coordinators based on Orgerons WANT for a pro style offense... I posted from the Broyles Award for Top Assistant coach and also this year's current total offense leaders. I only researched the TOP 30 teams.
I found it to be a rather weak list.

Yes, you are correct... what's interesting about Texas A&M offensive coordinator is that Bebe hired him as his OC at Ole Miss... could be a connection... also, note that Mazzone wasn't listed b/c TexA&M ISN'T TOP 30 in total offense....
Again, I just went by top 30 teams on total offense and a few guy from the Broyles award for top assistant coaches. I'm sure I'm missing a couple good names.

I like the ideal of Briles Jr and dad as consultant
Especially if they brought Stid
I have been a huge fan of their offensive success both at the qb position and rushing avg

The majority of those names are under the Air Raid Tree. That is a testament to how deadly that system is.
And how do there Defenses rank..?
Air raid is all good and sexy but it leaves your D pretty vulnerable.
Yes I understand we have better athletes on the defensive side compared to those schools but D still wins championships.
Plus you have to factor in our offensive isn't even close to being ready for air raid we've recruited big heavy O line and great running backs. We need a balanced spread attack like Ohio st, Houston, miss st.

Chip Lindsey Southern Miss Arizona State
Took a non recruited QB at USM and made him CUSA player of the year and broke all Brett Farve's records.
Having to outscore opponents at ASU where they have the last place defense in the country with a second team QB. Offense injuries over 170 missed starts and still putting up points...
Being courted by Auburn and Tennessee...

Great work. I'd take Canada for the win.

Chip Lindsey
He was the guy that brought South Miss back to the conference championship. Turned a non recruited QB into CUSA player of the year and broke every one of Brett Favre's records.
Kid threw for 4600 and had two backs rush for 1000 each..
Outscoring Texas Tech, Cal, Ucla and others till QB's and half the offense went down with injury...
Came out of Gus Malzahn's stable..If Gus loses Lashley he is going for Lindsey..
