Sloan or Slade Nagle from Tulane

I’ll take Sloan.
He is already here and is an elite recruiter and his work turning JD into the beast he was puts him in the driver seat.
It’s like a second coming of Joe Brady

Being a great developer and elite recruiter is fantastic and need to keep. But that doesn’t make you a great play caller.
What’s his history as an OC?

During the 2020 campaign, Sloan oversaw a Louisiana Tech offense that ranked first in C-USA and second in the FBS in fourth down conversions at 88.9 percent (16-of-18). He guided the offense to rank fourth in C-USA and 53rd in the FBS in red zone offense at 84.6 percent (33-of-39). The Louisiana Tech offense also ranked fourth in C-USA in passing with an average of 216.6 passing yards per game.

Why? Other than recruiting, what’s his playcalling like? What is his history with offenses? How did they perform? What kind of offense does he prefer ?

Can you post stats that actually matter. Like PPG or YPG. No one cares about 4th down conversion rate when hiring an OC.

…and in a year that doesn’t even count.

I’m not the one trying to hype up an OC by posting his 4th down conversion stats like you are. I actually look at stats that matter for an OC

Those are some very cherry picked stats from C-USA and didn’t answer how he is as a play caller.
Once again, being a great developer and elite recruiter doesn’t make you a great Playcaller
I’m not against Sloan by any means, I’ve just never seen him as a play caller while he was at LaTech. Never watched them play.
But here are some statistics from 2020 (I don’t put much stock in anything 2020) and 2021
2020 FBS ranks as OC
Total offense - 117th
Scoring - 78th / 26.7ppg
Rushing - 119th
Passing - 74th / 216.6 ypg
3rd down - 75th / 38.46%
2021
Total offense - 77th
Scoring -70th / 28ppg
Rushing - 105th
Passing - 35th / 261.8 only bright spot of improvement
3rd down - 71st / 39.63
For comparison
La Tech 2019: Co-OC
Total offense - 35th
Scoring - 35th / 32.5ppg
Rushing - 57th
Passing - 32nd / 268.5
3rd down - 46th / 41.38

I went and looked at those 3 years and Tech had a different QB and leading RB each season. Not sure what was going on, but it's definitely difficult to produce much with that lack of continuity.
I'm not sold on Sloan as OC, but you have to at least move him to co-OC to keep him on board. If UGA can have Schulman and Muschamp as co-DCs we have to be able to find a way to make this work.
