Would Miles Have Taken The Michigan Job In 2007 If ...

... the circumstances were the same ... let's say Lloyd Carr steps down after all of the bowl games and Les is pursued after the national championship game and nothing really happens outside of a little speculation before the game ... I really think we would have beaten Arkansas and we wouldn't have had to sweat out a miracle to get into the BCSNCG ...

I know this much, if Pat White doesn't get hurt and choke against Pitt, Miles has been at Michigan the last 3 years

two major things had to happen:
LSU not playing in a NC (but they were)
and michigan offering him the job or showing any interest at all. (which they didn't)
i think Les has always pined for Mich and i don't fault him for that. home is home.

i think all the courting shite affected the LSU team against Arkansas .. I personally think LSU beats Arky if all that shite wasn't going on during game week and it doesn't matter what the frick happens to Pat White ..

Carr had much more say about that hire last time and Carr hates Miles. I dont think he was ever offered last time because of this or Carr sabotaged it.

i agree .. and i always thought Les badly wanted the job back then and was being courted by the moeller/schembechler crowd the week of the arkansas job ... i always thought somehow, someway, the carr camp whispered in desmond howard's ear that les was about to be hired because they knew he'd blab it to herbstreit and the ohio state alum would enjoy reporting that ..

I've always wondered about this myself. The timing of the announcement produced maximum disruption right before the SECCG. Coincidence?
And SOMEONE gave Howard that information. Someone Howard trusted...

I think both of you are right. Des is a Les guy. But the AD at the time Martin turned down the search committee twice when they unanimously wanted Miles.
