Since LR is showing up on LSU candidates list, I am trying to understand why would he leave OU? OU could match LSU's salary offer & other than a possible recruiting advantage, I can't see why he would jump ship. Thoughts?

Only possible scenario is Riley thinks Oklahoma cant consistenly compete for titles in the SEC when they join. He saw first hand the athletes LSU gets compared to Oklahoma. Its all i got.

Maybe he would be interested in coming to the promised land of college football where the last three head coaches have won championships at a flag ship university in a talent rich state for a lot of money?

Talent advantage really only thing. It’s a pretty big selling point to be honest.

I would be amazed, but boy when you talk about home runs... SEC Rant would melt over this

It is more likely Riley will be the Seahawks coach in 2022 than the coach at LSU.

Riley is losing the Texas recruiting battles to Jimbo and Sark. The lifeblood for OU football is Texas recruits, and without those players, OU is on it's way down. Plus, it's just going to get harder once OU is in the SEC. The time to get out of the OU program is now.

pretty simple take IMO -- OU lives and dies by recruiting elite athelets from Texas. In the past, this was easy as both UT and aTm were down. OU was the best ticket in town for TX recruits. Lincoln got who he wanted and picked up national recruits too.

With the impending rise of both Texas and aTm, its not hard to see the future that OU recruiting will get exponentially harder.

Riley sees that - heck, even now he cant get them over the hump defensively.

Smart move is to go to a fertile recruiting ground, and reload every year without leaving the state, and SE Texas, etc.

Riley isn't leaving Oklahoma for another college job, he has NFL aspirations.
