I'm not saying he'll stay, but this is not true anymore. With incentives i think he can clear $3M or close to it. If they got in the Big XII (extremely unlikely) he'd get a 5M bonus.

No, it is still true. It's much more than his coaching salary. It's resources for recruiting, facilities, asst. coaching salaries, endorsements, and the ability to be relevant as a professional football coach. None of that is available to him at Houston. I'm not saying he takes our job but he absolutely will leave Houston this year or next.

He almost left UH last year for USCe, but he knew he would have a good team this year, and he hedged his bets that there would be some bigger job openings.

Herman is about to hit the jackpot.

if someone disagrees with this, they are just full of stupid..

why anyone believes one thing a "source", "coach", or "agent" says on Oct 7th is beyond me

Unless someone at Houston can blackmail him in a devastating way it is hard to imagine him potentially turning down several of the top five jobs in the country.

I was specifically talking about salary. In the past, big schools could offer these guys life changing money. When LSU hired Saban for example. Now, we can and obviously and would still offer much more, but there is not much you can do in life at $5M that you can do at $3M.

We've seen guys like Chris Petersen stay in 2nd tier programs for years, turning down multiple offers for more money and bigger programs. There is no reason to think Herman could not continue to win at UH if he's as good as we all think, that's really all I'm saying.

It could be a while for jobs like LSU and Texas to be open, so I'm guessing he jumps at the chance, but it wouldn't exactly floor me if he stayed.

As much as I hate to say this and I never pretend to be an insider, it's UH or Texas for Herman. Couldn't possibly get a closer source. LSU has zero chance to land him as of now.

Downvote away, i'm pissed too.

Any answer I give will be a giveaway. Just passing info to my fellow tigers, don't get your hopes up. Better knowing now than talking about it for months until this becomes public knowledge.

Well, there was a thread just yesterday talking about a source close to Herman said he doesn't hold the UT job in a higher regard than the LSU job, but now, not even a day later LSU is out of the running.

That's stupid.

Someone is full of shite.

How will you be giving something away?

You can't be vague?

Better job offer?UT already made an offer he can't refuse?

Personal dislike for someone in the LSU admin?

Let's do a hypo, as unlikely as it may be.

Texas and USC win out and keep their coaches. Houston loses to Louisville and doesn't get into a new conference.

We throw the bank at Herman.

You're telling me your source says that Herman will pick UH over LSU in that scenario?

Texas already decided it isn't keeping its coach. So that hypothetical analogy can't happen.

oh come on GT...

you fly in with these kinds of nuggets?

"Texas has already decided"

No, they haven't..

You don't fire an African America Coach after 3 seasons...

he inherited a dumpster fire...

He's done well everywhere...needs more time!

but I don't doubt they are heavily considering making a move

Nothing personal but that's incorrect. It will be "official" after the season, not during

Ok. So your source is basically saying Herman to UT is a done deal?

If so,
That's not too much of a bold prediction.

I'm not doubting you.

In fact, I think that's very realistic.
