Would Dan Mullen be a fit for VT?

VT has been known as a defensive oriented school for awhile and it's been supported by the idea of their DC being the coach in waiting and Kirby Smart's "interest" in the program but what if they shook things up?
I think Dan Mullen would be a refresher to VT football with his background as a QB guru and a great OC. He could bring some excitement back to the program that left when Beamer put it in neutral.

I would not want to be the guy who follows the guy.
Of course, Beamer has had several mediocre seasons in a row. Still, tough spot to come in and follow a long-time/legendary coach.

Maybe, but you don't have to deal with Ole Miss, A&M, Alabama, LSU, Arkansas every year.

How?... you can actually win a conference championship (and as a result be in the 4 team playoff) at VT... States not winning the west, let alone the SEC anytime soon.
Mullen has done all he can do in Starkville... if he's cool with that, then he doesn't need to change... if he wants more, then VT would be a solid opportunity.

From the start of 2012 to now, VT is 26-22 overall, 14-15 in the ACC. I'm sure there's some long time fans who will never let Beamer go in their minds, but a new coach won't have to do too much to get the majority excited.

This.
Beamer's last few years were pretty bleh, but he made that program what it is and was a Va. Tech alum.
He didn't win a Natty, but those are some pretty big shoes to fill for anyone taking that job.

In the same given seasons Dan is 31-16 overall and 15-13 in SEC play. I think he could hold his own in the ACC.
But he ain't going anywhere.

People were saying this when we won 8 games. Then they said it when we won 9 games. Now they are still saying it after a 10 win season and being ranked at #1 for 6 weeks. You along with everyone else have no clue about what can be done at Mississippi State.
