This has been my observation. Not trying to be sexist at all here, but my observation has been the same ones who defended Miles are happy with the hire of O as our permanent HC.
Anyone else see that too?

I don't think that's idiotic at all. It has been my true observation. Deal with it.

No, this thread is very dumb.

A basket of deplorables.

Seems to be true based on TD and my facebook
However, most of the people happy with O wanted Miles gone.

Lol I'm neither of those. Also I wanted Miles gone for year. O was not my first choice, but I'm not throwing a temper tantrum about it either.

Trump voters = O supporters

There were some diehard Miles fans on here that hate the hire.
Rickdaddy and Beefense hated the hire so that doesn't necessarily mean if you were Pro Miles you are Pro-O

I thought it was non-college educated whites that carries O in the rural parishes that put him over the top?
Unless I see the data behind your poll I don't trust it - you're likely skewing Bama +9 or some bullshite.

Do I count?
I was pro-Miles because I was sure that Alleva would frick up the hire and stick us with O.

Add in the former players (Ruffin and Truax) who were stumping for O on local radio

Yeah, this whole interim thing was a magnificent PR campaign.
Bringing back the former players and letting them walk down the hill/go to practice/feel apart of the team was a cool idea, but if you look deeper, you see it was orchestrated to have more influential people back the candidacy of O as HC.
The former players ate that shite up. Truax/Ruffin were talking about hoping the next HC would keep that going.
All of this was by design and it worked marvelously.

Damn, that was so intricate. Ponamsky and O knew what they were doing all along. We thought he would have to go undefeated or 1 loss to get this job. When all along all he had to do is get a ground swell of support from prominent figures in the program and the fan base.

You're an idiot. I see that.

Now this makes more sense, as the others kick and scream and protest the hire....hillary supporters.

Because it is bred into women to be sympathetic and let their heart win over their heads. Plus, a lot of women are busy raising children, cooking, cleaning, have full time jobs, etc. not a lot of time left to follow football and the dynamics of this hire. I do all of those but still make time for LSU football and spend a lot of my time here in this internet ghetto. No offense, I've grown to love it. I can tell you, I don't like O. He is more worried about making friends with the team and being loved when he needs to be taking control and be more of a hard arse. Instead of clapping and patting them on the back when they frick up on the field, he needs to start lighting into people for careless mistakes on the field. I also think he needs to reconsider that shortened practice time concept of his. Of course the players love playing for him. They have no accountability on the field. Football is all fun and games now. But the problem is, we as fans are the only ones that want to actually win those games.

I coach - have been in numerous clinics listening to numerous head coaches over the years talk about organization, approach to schemes, approaches to recruiting (more as a way so we know how to prepare our kids for recruiting efforts), how to run an organization, how to handle personnel... etc etc.
I did not graduate from LSU though, so I guess in those regards you are accurate. I support O, many of the folks I am associated with through coaching also believe that it's a great hire. While most of us have specific teams we root for, we all appreciate the sport and the people who work hard for the sport. Since I started coaching and focusing on that in my life things have changed in how I view the game and those involved with the teams.
I supported hiring Herman over Orgeron, but even though I thought Orgeron was a horrible head coach at Ole Miss - I had the opportunity to learn a lot about him a few years ago. I was all in hoping that he'd land a good head coaching spot somewhere. I didn't consider LSU an option at the time, but when he came on as DL coach I was excited. I thought he would greatly help the team and be able to work his way back to a head coaching gig somewhere. When they started talking about Les Miles being fired last season, O was toward the top of my list. I don't know enough about Fisher on a technical/personal level to pull for him - I just haven't paid that much attention to his program and I didn't think he was all that when he was here.
I'm a huge fan on Tom Herman, met him at the Nike Coach of the Year clinic this past spring. Listening to him and picking up techniques that I can use as a coach was great. He's a very technically sound offensive tactician. Orgeron isn't... Orgeron isn't a very technically sound defensive tactician. What I saw from Orgeron (what many very successful coaches at all levels of the game have seen) is that Orgeron has developed into a very sound personnel tactician. When I say that, he gets the most from his players and assistants. He had me fired up in his coaching session and I knew what I had to do to push my kids to drive harder and perform better. I learned specific techniques from Herman that I could use to run an offense. I learned specific techniques from Orgeron that I could use to manage a team.
A head coach is first and foremost the manager of the team. They set their expectations and make you as a player or assistant to fall in line with those expectations. Very few head coaches can be successful without a good offensive or defensive coordinator - there is too much work there for one man. Urban Meyer and Tom Herman worked great together. Herman ran Meyer's offense and manipulated the offense to be successful. Meyer had input but he didn't specifically run it, that's why Herman became a hot commodity that year and went to Houston. Herman then had Applewhite to run his system, but Applewhite is running it as he sees fit with corrections as necessary from Herman to his approach. Now many on here are talking about trying to hire Applewhite.
Orgeron has a specific system that he wants to run and when he fills the OC position, the OC will run within that system. Knowing Orgeron - the difference between now and Ole Miss is he stuck to his guns on everything then and now he knows that he doesn't know everything and will lean on his staff. If the OC comes to him now and explains this will work and this is why it will work, O will allow the OC to do his thing. At Ole Miss that wasn't the case - he also drove his staff to the brink of exhaustion there, and what he learned from Carrol was a good staff that is happy is better than an excellent staff that can't stand being there.
No head coach will succeed at any level without a great staff around them. Orgeron is a great man who has the capability of being a very successful head coach. I was disappointed in not getting Herman for the simple fact he is such a brilliant offensive tactician. But I will concede - if he lost DA from the defense, it would be a huge challenge for him to have a successful defense. I'm more than happy that we got coach O and not because he's Cajun... not because of my genitalia or where I did or didn't get a degree. I know the sport, I love the sport, I know what issues folks have with O and I know that those issues are greatly exaggerated.
Now on to the topic of this thread since this post is TLDR: what I have seen is the majority of folks who disapprove of him being hired are fans who want success, want proven success (regardless of whether that success was earned or not), and have no earthly idea how to look for traits in a coach that can lead to earned success.
