Versus the untold number of pages about Saban leaving...

Malzahn is mentioned by the national media as a candidate.

Just as legit as the Saban rumors.

Which you indicated were not legit.

If Texas wants to throw 6 million at Gus, he'll probably hear them out. Of course, all indications at this point are that he likes Auburn, so unless the money gets stupid I'm not especially concerned.

Haha, exactly the same status as yours. Plus ours hasn't flirted with UT for the last 10 days.

Saban wasn't interested because:

1. He's too old.
2. Wife has moved too much and finally said enough.
3. He has unlimited resources at Bama.
4. He coaches at the pinnacle of college football.

I don't think they will offer him or he will go but none of those things apply to Malzhan so why would he not be considered a candidate for the job? Need to apply logic to coaching searches.

Without his agent present or condoneing it?

If this is true then JJ is one slick MOFO!

Yeah. You know the agent doesn't have to be present, right? Our AD had talked to Sexton the week of the IB, so it's not like he was completely unaware.

Well, considering Gus Malzahn went to Jay Jacobs and wanted to sign an/the extension (which was presented) due to the rumors surrounding him leaving Auburn for Texas, I would say yes. This is old news, though.

Gus Malzahn will not go to Texas.

Well, if you use the CC board's logic, now Texas knows how much he's worth to Auburn and can drop the pocket change to outbid them. The buyout money might put a little crease in the slush fund, but what does that mean?

True story, my man.

FWIW, I never saw Nick Saban leaving...years back, last year, this year, next year...no. He is going to stay.

I mainly wanted to see Beer Bryant, and his ilk, melt-down if it some how happened.

HTtC and I cracked Texas's code in another thread, actually:
quote:

Was that the plan all along? They dropped an insignificant oilfield or two to pay off Saban's real estate debt (it was really actually a Ponzi scheme Saban was about to get busted over) in exchange for him using his dark powers to aid them in making a run at the Gus Bus?

Is there any depth to which Bevo will not stoop?

He's not even coaching at the best program in the state of Alabama at the moment.
