I don't think he'd bad for the SEC but I question how great a coach he is.

Basically he's just up tempo. Everyone kind of does that now. Is that really a differentiator? He'll have to recruit well (which he's not all that fond of doing) and have a great D coordinator.

Problem is, he'll likely wear out his D with that style and without absolute studs three deep on the DL, the D won't be able to handle how long its on the field.

His personality also will be a weird fit kinda like Mac.

He's not a folksy southern guy - more like Saban, which is fine as long as you win.

If he's the great coach everyone thinks he is, he should've been able to win one of those games. No excuses

He lost to #1 Auburn and #4 LSU. Guy's a bum.

This.

That quote makes it sound like he played SEC teams all the time. He played 3 times, won 1, lost 2.

At UF, ATM or UCLA, Kelly could easily recruit (nearby) not only the skill talent to fit his style of offense, but also the physical talent needed to compete with anyone.

BINGO. Saban sucks because he sometimes loses games.

Is this a bit?

his teams are finesse, not physical. Anytime Oregon played anyone slightly physical they would lose

Not necessarily true. In 2010 they went into Knoxville against Tennessee and destroyed them. They beat very physical Wisconsin teams in the Rose Bowl and even though they lose to Auburn in the NC game back in 2010, they beat Cam Newton up and only lost on a Byrum FG at the end of the game

WE in the SEC seem to think because Oregon has speed and finesse, that they don't have physicality....Kelly's teams always held their own against the "tough guys"

And he lost to Stanford twice

He was just getting that Oregon team under way in 2009. 2009 Oregon was not what it was from 2010-2012 under Chip. They were not a title contender. From 2010 - 2012 they went 2-1 where they blew out Andrew Luck twice and dropped the 2012 game by 3 points where they missed two FGs.

He lost by 3 to Auburn in the title game, and he got beat by 2011 LSU in the season opener where they were working in a bunch of new starters on the front 7. That game was a 3 pt game at halftime, and if you remember Oregon lost their starting two RBs and DeAnthony Thomas fumbled constantly as a true freshman in his first game.

eta - He lost to teams that Saban lost to.

Bingo.

ETA - As far as "Chip hates recruiting", I think Chip would much prefer recruiting at Florida where he can recruit at home, as opposed to Oregon where you have to travel to recruit CA and Texas.

Bad for the SEC?

How...because he is incredibly good?

Considering how bad SEC coaching is...no..this is a ridiculous question.

A lot of Florida fans complained that McElwain wasn't a good recruiter or didn't like recruiting which was the reason why their offense couldn't get better. What makes you think Kelly would be any better? He hates recruiting, has absolutely no ties to the south, his teams don't play even remotely good defense, and his offense can be very gimmicky. I think he'd probably win about 7 or 8 games a year.

Check Chip's recruiting classes.

Pretty good classes for Oregon.

Add in recruiting at UF isn't hard. Meyer rarely left the state. He hated traveling to recruit.

Guess which state you don't have to travel in?
