Why wont they promote Burton Burns to Offensive Coordinator?

He damn sure deserves it in my book! He has put his dues in by far!

He's never been an OC at any level. He seems content being a RBs coach. And Doug Nussmeier, Dirk Koetter, and Brain Schottenheimer are being interviewed for the spot.

He's been a damn good RBs coach for nearly 20 years. With his resume, you would have seen his name out there at some point.

I think high enough of Burns to assume he wouldn't do something like this, but he wouldn't hold the power position if he "threatened" to leave if he didn't get the OC job. It's arguable the best RB coach job in the Nation, and Bama has an alumnus that is a pretty good RB coach in his own right.
That said, I hope he's at Bama for a very very very long time...

For one thing, Saban likes someone who works with QBs, not RBs, as his coordinator. Look at all of his previous OCs for instance. They have all been QB coaches.
Secondly, Burns isn't a young man. Saban also tends to go young, younger than Burton Burns anyway, for that position. See Major Applewhite for an example.
Lastly, Saban tends to bring people in as opposed to promoting within for the OC spot.
