You can't compare the NFL to college. Saban tanked in the NFL as well.

Not defeating a single ranked team just gives me pause in what appears to be an impressive resume on the surface. Bc he'll be facing ranked teams nearly every week here

He had Baylor on the uptick, but there was still work to do. Dave has continued with what Rhule was building and they are in a good spot right now competing for the Big 12 championship and a small chance at the playoffs. I've wanted Aranda from the start as well, but you can't pass on Rhule if he's available in my opinion.

Rhule left college for the pros and the fact his name keeps coming up is laughable.

Saban went to the pros and wanted back in college as well. Some guys have a goal to make it to the NFL and then get there and hate it. Working with guys that get paid millions of dollars and are divas is a little different than working with college kids. Some just don't care for it. I agree that it's a huge stretch that he would come at this point, but if he really wants out, then this would be a good opportunity for that to happen for him.

Not every conference has the kind of ranked teams every week that we see in the SEC.

His results are still super impressive. He's a program builder who understands how to establish a winning culture even in places that have not won.

For those wanting to poop on the guy because of Carolina, lots of college program builders fail at the NFL (Meyer, Saban, etc).

Well, just hire any unemployed former NFL coach than.

Rhule isn't a hot commodity, matter of fact... he's a cold lump of coal.

Because he's a program builder. Those guys are typically the most successful.

For perspective, Baylor was projected to finish 6th in the Big 12 in 2019.

I understand they lost to OU twice in tight games and then UGA.

But one could expect to recruit better players and assistants to LSU so that doesn’t give me as much pause

Before Riley showed he wanted no part of the SEC Rhule was probably 1b to Riley’s 1A. Everywhere he goes he wins. Baylor was on death row and he had them in the sugar bowl after 3 years. Temple well is temple and winning 10 games there is insane. Rhule is a phenomenal coach and it’s baffling people don’t want him. And to even bring up Jimbo after this weekend confirms you qualify for a disability check.

I don't think people get how hard it is to win at Temple

I get it, but it is still cherry picking 1 situation. I don't know of any NFL coach who left on his own to go back to college other than Nick. Not to mention Nick was miffed at the team's unwillingness to sign Brees when he felt he was only a QB away and Dr. Andrews had given him a clean bill of health. I don't see anything like that happening in Carolina right now.

Not only did he turn Temple and Baylor into winners, but I also witnessed him blow out Sean Payton...with Sam Darnold!

The problem is... Woody set the stage with all the TD accounts. "Splash hire" nonsense.

Rhule isn't a splash hire, Woody struck out... and now there is limited availability.

I have questions about Rhule too, but I guess he's my top choice of the names I've heard that seem possible.

My two biggest questions are the lack of beating ranked teams - obviously his last year at Baylor they must not have played many. But the other question is only having been at Temple 4 years and Baylor 3 - can he sustain it?

On the plus side, if we pull him, he's not going back to the NFL most likely, so if he is successful he could be here 15+ years.

I believe he could do well, and the question marks aren't as big for him as they are for others.
