Why is everyone on Frank Wilson's case?

All of the positives I've heard about Frank Wilson deal with recruiting...specifically with his perceived ability to lock down the NO area (and Freak Johnson) for LSU. (UT fans may argue that Johnson is committed to UT because of Yaw Yaw, but that's not the point of this thread, so let's not argue that here.)

Howver, I've heard everything from "He's a subpar coach" to "He's dirty" to all kinds of other negative drivel.

I'm not saying none of it is true, I just don't know ANYTHING about the guy except that he was a RB in college, Coached at OP Walker in NO (where he still is apparently revered), coached RBs at Ole Miss under Yaw Yaw, and now is coaching WRs at UT. I don't know of any specific instances that ANYONE could bring up that would lead people think that he is "dirty" (usually this is used in reference to his recruiting tactics) or a no-good RB coach.

Could one of you who is strongly or even moderatly against this hire due to Frank Wilson's perceived character flaws and/or past indiscretions please provide specific examples of why Wilson is considered any of the negative things that are being said about him? What, specifically, has he done (or have you heard he's done) to obtain such a reputation. SPECIFICALLY!

Thanks!

(P.S. - If this needs to be moved to the RB or the CCB, admins...move away)

I've actually heard people who knew him at OP Walker say he was a great coach and person who put an emphasis on academics and class. One guy on this board said that he would make the football players at OP Walker wear ties and go to mandatory tutoring. They also had some sort of minimum GPA that was required. I think the fact that he was connected to Orgeron and Kiffen professionally turns some people off.

Again...

What is this based on?

Or is it "We shouldn't hire Frank Wilson b/c SFP thinks all he can do well is recruit OP Walker, but can't provide any evidence to support that claim"?

This is what I'm beginning to suspect.

I mean, if Janzen Jackson taught us anything, it's that just cause you roll with the guilty doesn't mean you're guilty.

We'll see. Any young, charismatic, personable coach can recruit for a big program. Porter wasn't exactly a known commodity when Miles hired him at Okie State, but he turned out to be an exceptional recruiter. Time will tell.

he would be a good hire and could recruit NOLA and the river parishes very well for LSU. There's nothing concrete that points to him being a bad guy or a bad coach, just the opposite. LA is being recruited extremely hard w/ some success by bama, auburn, and ut, I think Wilson will be a big plus in countering that.

The lack of responses to this thread is confirming what I originally thought...that everyone is pissing on him b/c he runs with Yaw Yaw et al.

when he was leaving OP walker to become a CFB head coach, he pretty much offered up the badass senior players as a bounty

saban worked wilson over. got the OP kids (including buster davis) and never hired wilson

ask yourself this

why has he never been able to establish himself at any school, and why he leaves so quickly?

i could give a shite who he has whored himself out to in the past and who he is whoring himself out to now

once UTenn signed freak johnson, wilson's days will likely be numbered

so he's a great recruiter because he could recruit 2nd tier guys from LA that LSU didn't want?

This in response to me saying I suspect people think he's scum due to his association with Yaw Yaw.....who was fricking head coach when Wilson was at Ole Miss.

Left Ole Miss when his boss was fired.

Left USM to coach in the SEC.

Now looking at leaving one SEC school for another to move back home.

None of these are indicidive of him being dirty or a poor coach.

for what reason? this crap all started bc of Saban turning him down after signing those OP Walker kids. He's still revered in inner city nola for the way he turned around Walker.

he's dirty in every way you can imagine

remember all the BS he pulled with deandre brown? he essentially told brown that we wouldn't give a shite about him if he couldn't immediately qualify, and then used every trick in the book to squeeze him in
