Why is Bob Stoops hardly ever mentioned as a candidate?

He's in the same category as Fisher and Saban and Urban and Harbaugh.
And he actually might move out of Norman, Oklahoma.

Big Game Bob? Really?

Member when he last won the national championship back in 2000?
Good times....
Good times....

I am willing to bet that he's on LSU's short list, like it or not.

Because he seems like an OU lifer and might backdoor his way into the playoffs for the 2nd straight year. Why would he leave?

No he isn't.
But he's in the tier right below that and that's OK.
I laugh when people say he'd be a terrible hire, bunch of dumbasses

I think he's a better candidate than most people give him credit for.

Because his name has been mentioned for every big job that comes open year after year.
If he was going to leave for any other CFB job, it would have been UF, and that job has come open 3 different times since he's been at OU. He never even blinked at the UF job. He's a lifer, and that's encouraging to see nowadays. I have great respect for that.

I brought him up here before and no one wants to hear it. Son of a bitch is just in the playoffs every other year it seems. That's all. Hasn't won the big one recently but at least he's in the mix, that's more than LSU and 99% of the NCAA can say

His name comes up a lot in passing.

He doesn't have his agent shopping him around

I was mentioning him as a possible sleeper candidate. He had too many skins on the wall to want to stay at a dead end school like OU. Once Texas restablishes himself, ou will be on the decline

It's true. Once Herman goes to Texas, nobody from that state will want to go to oklahoma. Why in the hell would you?

Dude I totally wouldn't call OU a dead end school...but Norman isn't exactly a happening place.
Posted on 11/19/16 at 9:20 pm to SeekGreatness
True. Ou isn't as bad as Kansas, but it's pretty lame compared to LSU
