Best explanation why Gus won't be here in nwa.

1. He has a history and not liked
2. Has no HC experience in big 6 conference or pro connections
3. People do not see him as name guy in nwa
4. The stAte connection eliminates him.

There were no asshats ranking hs teams nationally in the 70's, 80's.

...what? where have you been the last 50 years, clothevrzrback?

national high school rankings go back to the 1950's.

You do understand the NWA paper for longest time was nonexistent. The Only paper or outlet that covered high schools was the Gazette and they primarily LR since it was LR paper.

Until last 20 years Ft Smith was a bigger deal than NWA.

Any possible HS rankings before the high speed internet age is as reputable as Alabama's 27 national championships.

I highly doubt any of the HS football gurus were traveling to Pine Bluff Arkansas, or riding I-40 for 3 days to see Ft. Smith Northside play Springdale.

The advance of high speed internet and to an extent DVD-R's made watching HS football from multiple states even a remote possibility.

Williams teams running the Wing-T would've crushed Gus' teams. They wouldn't gotten the ball. Williams loved throwing an extra QB to play the Wing, running those stupid reverse passes etc.

I hate those goat roping chicken farmers.

#1 makes sense other than Jeff Long appears to have no qualms with Gus..
#2 makes decent enough sense.
#3 makes decent enough sense.
#4 I can't see being of matter.

...that all makes good sense. arkansas is still somewhat backwood to the rest of the country.

but, even now, since gus, (and i haven't done extensive research), but have any arkansas high school teams even been ranked in the national polls sinnce gus' springdale team? i glance at the nat hs polls on occasion, and i can't remember seeing an arkansas team ranked since gus..

The relationship between UA and stAte is best described as this...

stAte doesn't exist and if you worked or went there you don't deserve to be in Nam.

if houston nutt would have turned the offense over to gus at arkansas, it probably would have worked better there too.

he did early on. it failed...horribly

when they went all run under nutt, they did much better. malzhan adopted the spread option into his offense after

...he did early on for what?...less than one half of one game?

..and you say arkansas did much better with nutt's run philosophy? given nutt had d-mac, felix jones, and peyton hillis, i'd say nutt failed miserably with an 8-5 record that year. arkansas was picked to win the SEC west in the preseason that year, and they finished what?...4th place in the west?

Bentonville, USA brah. Has been as high as #8 in Rivals100 THIS season.

If you're such the fan of the Gus Bus, did you not check on Shiloh? They had some ranked teams up until they got buzzsawed and exposed by Euless Trinity.

..allow me to requote myself.

read again, and i actually posed it as a question, not a fact.

i realize you are a little buttsore from saying nat hs polls didn't exist in the 70's and 80's, when they did.

...why is that? most every other state in the nation has interstate competition. is arkansas scared of arkansas state?

haha, you're better than this.

You're trying to convince yourself of your own argument. When the facts don't support it because you were/are misinformed from the beginning.

Ain't no biggie, 'twas a nice troll, I bought in.
