Smart, organized and makes the adjustments needed to win. Why not Aranda?

Outside of fan familiarity Aranda and Tucker are pretty close. 500 college coaches with not a long HC'ing history that have had pretty nice starts to the season.

100%. If you’re pro Aranda & anti Tucker in reality you’re probably whining about Tate

Same reason the board will love Brady, intelligence and organization show up every day if the coach has the traits. Only Herman with his quirky kissing habits ruined his natural intelligence by being weird.

Because it's obvious who was keeping the program in line. He wasn't just the D coordinator, he was also the Associate Head Coach. Look how fast the ship sank both internally and externally after he left.

My only concern with Aranda would be recruiting.

I'm just not sure he would be able to consistently recruit against the likes of Saban, Jimbo, Kiffin, Kirby, Riley, Sark, etc.

I don’t understand the obsession either. He was a great DC, but the jury is still out as a head coach.

I would have thought the jury would have been out regarding o's ability to run a program in 2016 after his stint at Ole Miss. But there was an awful of people that wanted him to replace Miles as head coach.

Some of the same people on here were wanting him fired after some of our games in 2019. His head coaching record at Baylor isn’t incredible or anything. I just don’t get where some of you are coming from

We don’t have an easily hirable field of top contenders with long track records in the P5. Other than established coaches who would require a huge swing for the fence (which Woodward might try), there is some risk associated with everyone:

Fickell- Struggled running OSU as an interim and wasn’t the choice for head coach. No other P5 head coaching experience. Can he recruit on an SEC-level?

Campbell- The most P5 experience of the “available” candidates. Well-suited to where he is and has turned down other good offers. Would be be interested? Can he recruit on an SEC-level?

Kiffin- Can he keep himself on track? His antics make you wonder if he can keep his past issues at bay. Even if he can, there is nothing in his resume that suggests he will ever stay anywhere.

I could keep going down the list of Freeze, Row the Boat, BOB and others, but they all have flaws and question marks.

Dave Aranda has a couple of the same question marks himself. He only has a little bit of P5 experience and we know he’s not a traditional closer in recruiting. However, sometimes it’s easier to go with the devil you know, and everyone with this program certainly does know him very well. He also knows LSU inside and out and should have a very clear plan to fix problems walking right in the door.

Dave at least has some P5 head coaching track record now at Baylor and it’s trending in a positive direction from everything going wrong on him last year. We know that he’s very intelligent and organized. He’s also a good teacher and just made some great hires this off-season to shore up his team’s staff. The record may be short, but it still checks some important boxes.

Aranda isn’t going to be a top candidate for this job, but he should definitely be A candidate. We could do a lot worse if names higher on the list aren’t interested. As smart as he is and as well as he knows what is required to win here, I think he would have a plan to address keeping our level of recruiting where it is. And if Aranda did turn out to be a great head coach, I think he would stay here long-term.
