Isn't this the same guy the entire nation, including LSU fans, were making fun of 12 months ago for having a program out of control and looking like a deer in headlights every time a reporter mentioned the word "Jameis"? I get that the guy recruits well and won a national title, but just a year ago we were saying that the only reason was because of the easy schedule. Now all of a sudden he is a home run. If you want Jimbo so bad, why not save 15 million and keep Miles? They are basically the same coach...recruit well, beat crap teams, and lose to good teams.

I don't get the obsession over him and I also don't see anything that LSU can offer him that FSU isn't already. Change of scenery after the divorce is the only reason I could see him leaving.

It's baffling, I don't understand it either. Getting Jimbo would be like going from vanilla pudding to, well, vanilla pudding....

Because he's probably one of the best coaches out there not named Saban or Meyer

It is pretty amazing. You could probably find threads from only a month ago bashing him and his integrity. Suddenly it's all forgotten

Well he has one ability that Les Miles does not.

He's holding out for the Bama job when Saban retires, remember?

You do know what you are getting with Jimbo. He is not as high risk as Herman and some of the other names. But I also don't see him having as much upside either. We know that he can win given the right circumstances, but also that he struggles to control his program, let's stars embarrass the university, and his team plays down to competition. Remember all those nail-biters last year against horrible teams and then a blowout loss to Oregon? The guy seems like a Miles clone to me.

You remember that thread. That wasn't the best OP, I admit.

But do you remember also in that thread LSU fans bringing up his character issues, and me telling them it wouldn't matter in time, people would forget?

Probably different LSU fans from the ones who now want Jimbo (there are a lot of LSU fans on this site).

I don't think Jimbo's leaving for LSU for the same reason I don't think he'd leave for Bama or any other job.

You think he loves it in Tally? That's the destination?

IMO If you're FSU you should be in the playoffs every yr.. Hello, youre in the ACC and your team is loaded with 4-5 star recruits. Well, unless you lose to GT

Why not? As long as they can pay him what he wants, and they will considering he already has a natty, there's no reason for him to go elsewhere--at least in college.

I don't think he is second coming or anything, but he did rebuild a stagnant and declining Florida State program and won an NC there. That's as good a resume out there as you're going to be able to possibly attract.
