Why did Herman bail on USCe coaching gig last year?

I mean, outside of the fact that it's USCe.

I'm sure they made him a decent offer?

It's not that big of a step up from Houston

His agent convinced him to wait another year for a really big payday. Plus Houston gave him $3MM so it wasn't like he was hurting.

Plenty of talent in South Carolina. They don't have it locked down necessarily and compete with Clemson, etc., but it resembles 2000 LSU to me in some ways.

So similar to the team losing to Kansas last week. Interdasting. Edit: it's a joke.

He said it was too much of a rebuild

Another reason LSU is favored IMO over a Texas

LSU is much more ready to win now

Texas is flat out atrocious

After the citadel loss, he told people that the turnaround and rebuild was probably more of an undertaking than he wanted to invest in. He was also interested in UGA, but there was no chance in hell he was getting that job over Kirby.

He wants a team he can win with right away. That's the fastest route to NFL. If he is at LSU when that happens, Aranda is going with him.

Welcome back to Christmas 2004

He was waiting on this year because it's a huge year for coaching changes.

A shrewd move by him. No point in taking that job, bet on yourself to perform and earn a better one. He has done just that.

Would gladly go through Christmas 2004 again for a great 5 year run and National Championship.

You can get that with Herman or Jimbo

The thought of hearing his wife yell 'go cocks!' all the time made him nervous.
