Why are Fuente and Herman considered better candidates than Matt Rhule?

Rhule's Temple destroyed Fuente's Memphis.

If Rhule destroys Herman's Houston this week, he will have beaten Memphis and Houston to win the AAC.

One could argue that the 3 years it took Rhule to turn Temple into a successful team that beat Memphis and Houston and perhaps won the AAC is FAR more impressive than what Fuente and Herman have done at schools located in FAR better recruiting areas.

Question is: Why are Herman and Fuente considered the better candidates over someone like Rhule?

I agree with you. Rhule is a great coach. He knows what he is doing and will be a huge success at a P5 school.

I think Fuente is better solely based on what the Memphis program was before he arrived. The school has zero facilities. They practiced for a time on a grade schools football field for goodness sake. Temple has had recent success, although it's very little but still wasn't in as bad of shape as the Memphis program.

He took kids that had very few to zero offers and molded them into winners. Florida was the only other school to even look at Lynch and they didn't offer. The starting wideouts are all walk ons.

Not saying Temple coach isn't a great coach but me personally seeing what Fuente did for the Memphis program, the worst college program in the country at one point, was amazing.

Good question. Probably because he is not coaching in the south, so he does not get as much press as the other two.
