If Ed doesn't get the job, we're about to find out how much he really loves LSU and Louisiana.
Either Herman or Fisher would likely keep Orgeron around as a position coach, and LSU would pay Ed close to seven figures to stay - which is more than any other school would (or could) pay him for the same work.
If he voluntarily leaves to take a job elsewhere that isn't a head coaching job, you can assume two things -
- It isn't about money.
- He doesn't love this state and university as much as he's professed.

I'm not saying he isn't but there are Quite a few other coordinators and head coaches that are just good if not better

Absolutely 100% true.
I said it yesterday, taking a lateral position at a rival school or a school in a worse position pretty much confirms Ed lacks confidence, foresight, and real love for LSU/Louisiana. This could be all about him and not about LSU.

We ahould hire a HEAD COACH to stop him from becoming a POSITIONAL COACH at alabama
we make bama instantly stronger by HIRING a coach they would only consider as a position coach.

Ed is pretty tough to beat in his own state. I get he's not your favorite, but keeping Aranda and adding Applewhite would be pretty special in my opinion.

Saban won't hire O; he'd be afraid of the O curse.

If he's willing to flip allegiances that quickly after the one team one heartbeat stuff and going on about how much he wanted to be at LSU then he's a phony.

Alleva's #1 job should be to keep Orgeron from competition. If he falls on Saban's lap it doesn't matter who LSU hires and the pro Fisher melt will be historic.
