Yeah Mike Leach has orchestrated some of the most memorable, suffocating defenses in college football history. How about taking your aforementioned comment, look in the mirror, then apply it to the person standing in front of you.

Gene Chizik. Former LB and DC. Won in 2010.

Better question
Who has beat Saban with less talent? He's got the best yearly.

There is some amazing irony in this thread BTW. The OP's point is that we measure the best coaches by who beat Nick Saban, and those coaches tend to be offensive minded. But Nick Saban is the best ever and is defensive minded.
You’re right. Which is while we’re in the same division as the greatest coach ever then who can beat him?
If you don’t think we’re chasing Bama and Saban I can’t even throw bread to the pigeons with you bruh

Maybe 19 LSU and maybe Georgia this year

Maybe Bob stoops or the Utah coach in those sugar bowls?
If your head coach isn’t an offensive specialist then you risk going through OC purgatory,
1. Lincoln Riley
2. Lane Kiffin
Couldn’t agree more.
I started a thread last night about how the next HC needs to be from the offensive side of the ball and got hit with the usual DEFENSE WHENS CHAMPIONSHIPS and SABAN IS DEFENSE schtick
It’s like they haven’t been paying attention the past 5-10 years.
ETA: And Stoops, like Saban himself, hasn’t been a DC in going on 30 years. Both of those guys evolved into much more well rounded program managers and ended up leading some of the highest scoring offenses in the country.

You have to include Aranda. The 2019 game wasn’t as close as the score.
Brady schooled Saban that day and Aranda’s D more than held its own.

Playing bump and run man on that last Hail Mary made no sense at all

7 sacks 2 interceptions and a pick 6. Held the #1 offense in the country to 16 points.

4th ranked scoring offense nationally
Good lil defense tho
Prolific offense however

3rd scoring offense nationally and that was AFTER they were held to 16 points.
And that good little defense was the #1 scoring defense in the country.

Ok? So you're point was that Saban always has great players? Obviously. So again - you need to replicate how to beat him.

Yea it’s the first sentence with a question mark.
