I don't know.

How does it stack up with this jem of yours:

"BAMA is going to make us look like a 1AA team."

My thoughts:
a) Needs to be someone who isn't too one dimensional.
b) Every OC has their weaknesses, blind spots, etc. and minimum personnel requirements to be successful.
c) I'm not convinced Crowton is the heart of the problem. His body of work in '07 was impressive on all fronts. Neither Oregon this year, UF with Tebow, or Bama last year can claim they never scored less than 27 pts/regulation w/ their starting QB.
d) Since '08, Crowton is basically calling the plays Les allows him to call from. IOW, not his O.
e) If Les wants to continue on this course (dictating the O), then there are other OCs out there that would be a better fit. If Les wants to open things up, then Crowton would do just fine.
f) Gonzo has lost a lot of luster. Our receivers haven't been that solid and the demise of UF's O makes and "association w/ Meyer" doesn't seem that impressive.

Why did Miles not call the plays in 2007? For what reason did he take over playcalling in 2008?

Mettenberger with Steve Logan coming in would be scary as hell.

Fit is more important IMO.

If we get to the 2nd half with a 10 point lead, Les is going to want to pound the ball. We need someone who is not only comfortable with that, but in addition has a power running attack built into the system. We need to stay away from these pass-happy west coast schemes.

Just my opinion but I think GC designed and called the plays in '07 and '08. After the co-DC and QB debacles I think determined not to repeat his mistakes. Hence, I think he has constrained GC since. I've heard Charlie/Gordy say something similar.

I would love to see Malzahn. I think JJ could fit into his style. I think a two QB could work also. He always seems to have his Oline ready to play. Always seems to have teams that block well.

Another dark horse: UK's OC, Randy Sanders:

As quarterbacks coach, Sanders' guidance helped Andre' Woodson develop from an inconsistent performer into one of the top quarterbacks in the nation. Seemingly overnight, Woodson blossomed as a player and a field general, leading the Wildcats to some of the most memorable victories in school history, including a pair of Music City Bowl championships.

Along the way, Woodson led the Southeastern Conference in passing yardage, total offense, and touchdown passes, including an SEC record of 40 TD tosses in 2007. He earned All-SEC honors both seasons and was drafted by the NFL's New York Giants.

Sanders went back to square one in 2008. He did a masterful job of melding the inexperienced talents of then-sophomore Mike Hartline and freshman Randall Cobb into a capable tandem.

hmmmm... Sanders wasn't all that great at UT after Cutcliffe. maybe he's gotten better, but I don't know.

I wonder if we could steal Shawn Watson from Nebraska

Perhaps a good coordinator who would fit in with Miles' Big 10 philosophy and who can develop QBs.
Maybe not at the top of the list, but a candidate that imo would be an acceptable hire if others declined.

Take a big back and run his arse up the middle 20+ times a game to control the tempo.

gary's scoring offense is 56 in the nation at 27.0 per.

that's pretty good and i'd love to see him stay.

although everyone else thinks its unforivable that our yards per game isn't very good, without even understanding that no one will put up great yards with returners that will bring it to the 40 almost everytime (peterson and trindon) or the fact that the defense is GREAT and creating a shorter field for us.

i will say that points per game isnt true either, it counts return tds (3) and defensive tds (2). but it's a better indicator than yards per.

so shut up.

oh and if i had to. Steve Spurrier Jr. kid acts exactly like steve.

Yost from MU has done an exceptional job developing QBs over the last 10 years... likes a balanced offense (in line with Miles' philosophy)
