Bama will match any offer he gets. They won't allow fans to ever say "why didn't you match the offer?"

Could not disagree more. Who are these "boosters" that are just going to pony up substantial amounts of their money to appease the whims and desires of a coach who is already handsomely rewarded for his services? What do they gain from this?

I wonder if the fact that Carroll gave the NFL another shot and is having some success in Seattle might make Saban think he could do the same given the right situation.

This.

Before this season, I said "no way" would Saban leave Alabama for the NFL (or any other job for that matter). But if Bama wins the NC I think there is the "potential" that he could look around at different opportunites. I don't think NFL vs. College money has anything to do with it. He is paid a ton at Bama, and they certainly would do everything possible to keep him there should it look like he was looking at other jobs. That said, it's not out of the realm of possibility that he is getting a little complacent at Bama. He's had tremendous success there and if he picked up NC #3 in six years, you'd have to say "what more could he really do?" Some coaches like the process of rebuilding a program/team moreso than sitting at the top where even 1 loss a year may be considered a failed season. My money is that he stays at Bama until he retires, but if his name pops up in discussions for other jobs, there might be a little more "smoke" than at any other point during the last 6 years

Saban is not going anywhere.

His next job is more likely to be the AD at UA than it is in the NFL or UTx.

He has realized that he prefers the college game to the pros and has come in and built UA back into one of, if not the, top programs in the nation and that doesn't appear to be stopping anytime soon. He's built the program up and is finishing up his legacy and will be known as one of the all time greats when all is said and done. He is also actively involved in the AD working with more than just football. He has complete authority at UA and will not leave for more money because any offers made to him can and would be matched.

Sorry, you're just going to have to figure out a way to beat him or wait another 5-10 years until he quits coaching.

When Mal Moore decided to fire Shula he started a "pass the hat campaign" among about 2 dozen key boosters. Shula's buyout - though spread over the remainder of his contract - was $4M. Within 48 hours Moore had commitments fo $16M, including one booster who offered to pay the full $4M over 5 years.

Bama has the money. The football surplus is over $70M. Surplus. Don't confuse certain parts of the state or what you've seen in stereotypcial movie scenarios with the reality of Alabama Football's economic status. Bama could match any reasonable offer Saban would receive. They would not allow money to be the reason. It's that simple.

Thanks for posting this - the money will flow in if it's needed. Mal knows exactly who to call when he needs major funds.

that is too cute.

For the record, I don't think Saban leaves Alabama. If he does it won't be for the money. Just as if he stays, it won't be for the money.

I do know though that your AD has (or at least had, my info is a little old) no intentions of having his feet held to the fire for a raise, and that if that is the case, then they will part ways.

If Saban goes to the NFL, he should go to the San Diego Chargers.
