re: Where did all the "Coach Herman isn't coming" ideas come from?

Well the rumor 6 hours ago was that Herman wasn't comfortable with the politics at Texas.

I have always noticed Louisiana people are some really negative minded folks

Meth use by birth mothers is my guess

If Alleva pulls it off, and I think he will, this will be one for the ages.
I mean, a lot of people don't think Joe is up to this. Go ahead and mark this down as the 1st real defining moment by an LSU AD in the 21 century. His legacy is on the line. Nobody will remember anything he ever did at LSU except did he nail this hire?

I might be skeptical, because I've seen the media get these searches wrong all the time. But I'm not going to act like there was zero fire around the smoke sent out near game time. I am not going to speak as if, "no way Herman is coming, he's going to Texas".

I'm not ruling out Herman to LSU. I want it more than anything.
The Strong situation is more promising than anything with Texas.
I'm just worried about the story leaking now and what affect that has on things even if there was a deal. Nothing can be officially signed until after the season. He'll have to meet with his Houston players tomorrow...
I'm just saying, I'm not going to be overly positive about the situation at the moment. That shouldn't mean I'm being overly negative. It just means I'm looking at all of the aspects.

ESPN cited a Texas source for the news, and Alleva is of course silent as ever so none of us know anything
He has to be silent. Remember anything he says will be held against him. Right or wrong, the media has had it out for him since the Duke incident. And..have you not heard? First guy who talks loses.

Nothing wrong with that neutral out look. Kinda feel the same way too. On the other side of the token, I am fully prepared if we make a mistake and hire O.

defeatism, which is inherent in Louisiana culture. Saban called this out when he was hired at LSU.
I understand the believe it when you see it mentality, but IMO this is overboard. It's basically good news == we're fricked. Glass empty.

UT is fighting a potential fracture within the team. Hell, they had players supposedly planning to boycott the TCU game. Do you think those players won't bail if Strong is fired and done wrong?
I was hearing on the radio how there was "F@ck Coach Strong" graffiti in the freaking UT library. That is just pathetic.
Also, they have an interim AD, would have to pay Strong $10 million and not to mention his staff buyouts.
President is against firing him, and you better believe that him being black and not given a "fair chance" will be batted around by other programs and many in the media.
In the end, boosters are going to potentially cause all of this to collapse on UT because of their impatience and egos.

People are just afraid of the possibility of Texas swooping in and getting Herman, at the last minute. A reasonable fear, I suppose.
this pretty much.
reports that Jimbo is out, and now we're back to competing with Texas for Herman, doesnt really give you a warm and fuzzy.
But i think its either done or getting done. so im okay at the moment

Sorry, I was paying attention to the game. Why such a swing of emotion on this board? What did I miss?
People freaking out over a rumor that started at FootballScoop, which was later called into question. I guess people figured Texas would just fold up and go home. I prefer to think their administration and army of insane boosters will show itself to be more incompetent than Alleva, because judging by the last 3 weeks, THEY ARE.
You guys all assume that Joe will blow this. What gives you guys any confidence that Texas won't frick it up worse? What have they done right lately?
