No, you didn't misunderstand. The chain of events doesn't get started until there is a job opening. So the first domino falling has to be a firing. The OP doesn't get to change the meaning just because he started the thread.

The first hire will be announced Championship Friday. Some coach from MAC will announce he is leaving for school X.
