Lane went to FAU after Bama then Ole Miss so what are you talking about?

It was when Lane was taking the FAU job, not Ole Miss And there’s been past situations where a coordinator for a team playing for a national title had already been announced as HC at their new school, but still stayed on with their prior school through the end of the playoffs or BCS title game. Kirby Smart got hired by Georgia at the end of the regular season but he stayed on with Bama as DC for another month until the CFP championship game. Bo Pelini had been hired already by Nebraska and still stayed on at LSU through the BCS title game.

Now give your list of head coaches leaving to coach at a rival that were allowed to stay. Lane is a head coach not a coordinator. Apples and oranges.

Bc then ole miss is going to be severely behind the 8 ball with recruiting and hiring for next season if they let lane finish off the season
And they probably don’t want lane having more time to convince ole miss players to come to LSU

Yes they will be behind but so what? They’re probably gonna suck next year anyway with a new coach and this may (almost definitely will) be the only season they get this close to a natty. If I’m Ole Miss I’m letting it all ride on this one shot.

I think Lane will still be able to bring select players over with him whether he goes now or later. And Ole Miss is probably going to lose good players to the portal anyway.

Lane can accept the LSU job and finish the season and they can still announce who their next head coach will be while he is coaching...

BK was announced as head coach on 11/29/2021 and O still ran the team through the bowl game

If he resigned now effective after the last game. The balls is in Ol Miss’s hands. They will terminate him saving him $4,000,000. I doubt that’s a factor but it would remove Kiffin from the stigma of leaving a playoff team.

Anyway we slice this, frick Jimmy Sexton.

They are fools for even making this an issue. Florida and ole Miss have shown serious short-sightedness in this situation. They have made it clear that they are not players in the SEC going forward.

Are you retarded. You want LSU to make a guy the highest paid coach in America, and wait till January, when its convenient for him?

Tell me genius, what happens in January if he decides to stay in OM?

Can you actually think

Wow…so yeah, you actually believe Ole Miss is cool with this? They want him out now if he is leaving. They don’t want him meddling. We are their rival. What part of that don’t people understand. They don’t like us. They want Lane to epically fail if he goes to LSU.

Your example is backwards.

Coach O wasn’t going to conference rival.

If you remember BK was very much in playoff competition in 21 when he left ND. He was not in Southbend on NSD.

What I’m saying is that Lane already has a relationship with all these players. Even if they force him out he can and will still take players with him if he wants. The only thing Ole Miss should be cool with is whatever gives them the best chance to capitalize on their one shot in their lifetimes to win a championship.

Seems like a conflict of interest.

How does he assemble a staff and recruit against the school he’s a currently coaching. Moreover, be under contract with rival programs simultaneously.

No, you’re right. But read the poster I was responding too. He said Saban fired Kiffin from Bama when Lane was OC because he had already taken another job

Lane coaching the rest of the season means he misses early signing day and potentially the January portal window. That should be unacceptable and non negotiable for LSU
