Gentlemen, can someone explain the meaning of leverage to me again please. I’m confused.

He's gonna tell Ole Miss that he's going to LSU tomorrow and that he wants to keep coaching Ole Miss throughout the playoffs. They're then gonna tell him "no", workout a settlement and he'll be at LSU by Sunday.

This.

If he was leaving for an NFL job then Ole Miss would let him stay and coach the playoffs.
But since he would be leaving for not only another college job, but another SEC job, they would tell him to gtfo.

If OM is really about the good of the boys and the team, they would let Lane complete this year. That is the best for everyone.
We will soon find out what the OM admins think of their players.

If he wants LSU, then he should be able to finish with Ole Miss. It’s good for everyone involved.

So you have zero doubt that’s what he’s doing?

LSU has already stated they would allow him to do so.

He said tonight that it was up to Ole Miss if he gets to coach so obviously, this is done already and Verge gave permission for him to do it. Which is pretty damn cool of us. But if I'm them, I'd have to say no. It's sad. This is the fault of the stupid fricking calendar. They really need to fix this because I want him to coach his team to whatever conclusion they achieve. It's the right thing. But he's got to come here regardless. We didn't make it this way.

I don’t believe Lane has any love for LSU. I still feel like he’s using LSU for leverage.

A week after Cignetti signed his extension at Indiana, ESPN had an infographic that it was imminent Lane was signing an extension. Napier wasn’t fired yet and neither was Kelly. That isn’t a good feeling if you’re an Ole Miss fan

No one can do both jobs simultaneously. I haven't seen where LSU has said they would allow this to happen but I agree that the calendar is the biggest issue.

That wouldn’t be the best for the Ole Miss players. Kiffin has already been in this situation coaching in the playoffs when he was one foot out the door with another job; he mailed it in and was fired. The Ole Miss players deserve a coach in the playoffs who will give them their best effort. That would be impossible with Kiffin having already accepted the LSU job

Or he could coach another game or until he loses then quit and come to LSU
