What top tier coach in their right mind would want to be Saban’s puppet?

Terrible exit strategy.

None. Any success and it's because Saban still has a hand on the program. Any failure and it's because you're not good enough (failure being not winning championships). Frick all that

It will be Dabo, he is a coach that has already won Championships and that’s what Alabama wants, a coach that has already won Championships. With Saban being there still he will bring up Dabo and the new staff. Remember also Dabo played at Alabama so he is alumni, that holds a lot of water in the bucket. Alabama will still be Alabama with Dabo I hate to say it. But we’ll see how it plays out, it will be interesting to say the least.

Or you could coach in a great situation where some of the off the field processes are already ironed out and you can take what you like from it and have a ready made process so you can focus on the football side of things.

Dabo can barely handle the pressure at Clemson. He'll fold at Bama

No prominent, capable, CONFIDENT coach will want to work like that - with Saban still in the program looking over his shoulder.

You need a clean break. Stupid to let him remain if you want to move on to another great coach.

Saban recommended Houston Nutt when he left here. He doesn't want someone to have success there.

I don't think Saban is the half-in/half-out type. I think he'll walk away completely before only half-arse running the team via the new coach. A control freak perfectionist like Saban isn't going to be satisfied with half-measures.

He should walk away completely.
