Are you talking about the guy that just interviewed for the NYG head coach job?

Not proven at college level, can't recruit, will bolt for first NFL opening. Don't want to take gamble when we are trying to stabilize the ship.

I realize we had a 30 year old Joe Brady, but 40 is still considered a young coach.

I’m open to Richard, but not excited:
- His claim to fame is helping Dan Quinn and Pete Carroll create the Legion of Boom, but once he got the actual DC job he was fired by his good friend and mentor after 3 years of decline. That’s just a fact.
- Even if he was the secret architect of that defense, it was a zone-based scheme which does not fit our personnel and is typically less successful in college.
- It'll be a hard to convince recruits that he will stay for long if he had success, he’s just been an NFL guy, feels like we’re a stepping stone move after losing another job.
- We have no idea if he has any interest in recruiting, again, he’s only been an NFL guy.

Other than that, he’s great!

That’s like a high school not hiring a successful college pitching coach because he’s “not proven at the high school level.” Dumb as frick.

can't recruit

He can’t? Or you just aren’t convinced he can? I would think a young, energetic, black coach with an NFL background would be a pretty good recruiter by default. Regardless, his main job would be to coordinate and call the defense.

terrible, terrible, terrible fricking reason to not hire someone

Meh. I have no idea if he’s the right guy for the LSU job, but you’ve done an atrocious job of arguing against it.

If we get Richard who would coach the linebackers? And what sort of front would he run

Thanks Carl! Even after your philosophical breakdown I still stand firm in not wanting Richard.

Nothing to be honest. He’s an enigma and ironically coaches a scheme that goes entirely against the type of DBs we recruit.

I am in no way excited by this hire like some others on here are should it happen.

It is sadly O just going with his typical USC buddies. Ironic when he went outside that and got Brady things changed, but he will go back to it again and it is extremely risky.

Yeah, i dont get why the Rant is saying this is a HR hire.

A guy thats never coached college and was about to get fired this year is instantly better than Aranda?

Id go get a proven current DC and money whip them.

Did Pete carrol hire aranda or Richard when he had an opening. What about the cowboys? Did they hire aranda or Richard? Tbt aranda wishes he could have had the jobs that Richard has had. There is no doubt who is viewed as the superior defensive mind.
