But every LSU fan is fooling themselves if you think Napier will coach there for 20 years. It doesn’t matter who the coach is, they aren’t lasting 10 years unless they win 3 Titles.

I don’t think anyone lasts 20 years. But why is it so far fetched that a coach stays here for 10 years? If not fired, where would they leave to?

IMHO I don’t think he is quite yet ready for a job like LSU. You don’t take such a high pressure job if you don’t have your system refined to a point that it’s exactly how you’d like it

Finally some sanity!

Miles averaged 10 wins a year, fired. Coach O wins a Natty, fired.

Saban, won a Natty, but wasn’t outstanding here like he has been after returning from the NFL.

Since 1962 LSU has had 2 coaches last more than 5 years. Charlie Mac and Les Miles.

LSU just doesn’t keep coaches. So Napier would get 1 contract if history stays the same.

A coach could win one in 3-4 years and be in contention for the next 3-4 years after that. I can see ten years easily if a coach doesn’t do stupid shite like Miles or O. Someone is not leaving willingly to go to another school. Maybe the nfl like we saw with Saban.

Offer his $15 Million/year with 10 year guarantee of $150 Million.

I don't generally care about how much coaches make because it's not my money that is being spent here. It's the boosters and athletic department that foot the bill and it's not any of my damn business what they pay, but if they paid Napier 15 million a year, I would genuinely be concerned about their mental sanity. . If you're offering that, you can damn well get someone better than Napier.

The program was in a decline during the final years of Les and it was obvious to see. He refused to change the offense and got himself fired. If he would have hired a good OC and let them do what they needed to do, he might still be coaching here if we're being honest. The guy was beloved by most people until the national championship game in 2012. O was given a massive raise and extension after the NC win and then went completely off the deep end. They can say all they want his firing was about wins and losses but it wasn't. There was a lot of shite going on behind the scenes with him that resulted in this more so than him losing games. If it was just purely wins and losses, I think he would have been given another season to try to make corrections. So, if a guy comes here and wins consistently there is an opportunity to stay at LSU for a long time. Les is proof of that, and like I said before, if he hadn't been stubborn about the offense would likely have been able to retire a legend. He would have won at least 2 more championships if he had an offense worth a shite.

Don't worry. Napier won't turn LSU down because he isn't remotely qualified to be offered the job.

All time at LSU 6 plus years

1- Charlie Mac - 18 years
2 - Bernie More - 13 years
3 - Les Miles - 11&1/3 years
4 - Paul Dietzel - 7 years
5 - Gaynell Tinsley - 7 Years

For Comparison

Alabama

1 - Bear - 25 years
2 - Frank Thomas - 16 years
3 - Saban - 15 plus years
4 - Wallace Wade - 8 years
5 - Harold Drew - 8 years
6 - Gene Stallings - 7 years

Penn State

1 - Joe Pa - 46 Years
1 - Bob Higgins - 19 years
1 - Rip Engle - 16 years
1 - Hugo Bezdek - 12 years
1 - James Franklin - 8 years +?

Just a few. Not sure that means anything really. But it is interesting to me.

True... but the discussion is still on the wrong board. I mean, the reason for that board is to eliminate clutter here. However, the only real topic of discussion over there is LSU.... so just shut it down.
