I 100% understand that when you hire a new HC you give them the autonomy to decide who their Assistants will be. I also understand for all the short comings this staff actually has some solid coaches. I’d expect a few to be retained and or a atleast get an interview with the incoming HC to see if he wants to retain them.

Here is the staff. You decided. Here are my thoughts.

OC- Jake Peetz- likely gone. Probably won’t get an interview.

PGC- DJ Mangus- likely gone. Probably won’t get an interview. Likely this position doesn’t exist spending on who we hire.

OL- Brad Davis- will likely be retained depending on the hire. Dude is great coach and has already begun fixing the issues as seen this past week. Will atleast get an interview if nothing else. Depends really on if he fits the new OC scheme. He is a hell of a recruiter also.

RB- Kevin Faulk- will likely be retained because of what he means to the program. Also wouldn’t be surprised if he is moved to another roll at the very least.

WR- Mickey Joseph- will likely be retained because of his recruiting. Will get an interview for sure. All accounts say he’s become a damn good WR coach over the years after starting with no knowledge when starting.

STC- Greg McMahon- should be retained. ST has been a bright spot the past few years.

DC- Deronte Jones- most likely won’t be retained or interviewed. Depends on new HC. I could see DA would give him an interview.

CB- Corey Raymond- you don’t lose this guy. End of story. Godfather of DBU.

LB- Blake Baker- may get an interview. Well respected and has a good resume. LB play has improved this year.

DL- Andre Carter- would give an interview. Dude has a bright future and players love him. Great tactician.

GM- Austin Thomas- likely not going any where. SW’s guy.

Recruiting Specialist- Mason Smith- not going anywhere. Dude is a gem in the recruiting game.

Analyst- we have a hell of a lot of them. I’m sure a few of them will stick around. Jorge Munoz is my pick to stick around.

Director of Performance Innovation- Jack Marucci- ain’t going anywhere.

S&C- Tommy Moffitt- not sure if you wanted to make a move here. Now is the best time. But people still see him as one of the best. Unless he wants to retire, Lowell you not going anywhere.

Greg Stingfellow- not going anywhere.

A lot of others but those are the ones of note.

Good post. Our position group coaches are actually elite. Raymond, Joseph, and Davis all should stay. Would be very hard to replace all of those guys with someone even in their same league. Would like to see Andre Carter stay but I’m sure he’s got a lot of options. Faulk may want some time off from coaching after this year anyways.

They are coaching for their careers. Lay an egg here and become marked

Not sure you have been around many coaching changes. Expect 1-2 at most to be retained.

If the offensive line continues to improve under Davis, then he should obviously be retained. He is a young guy who learned under Pittman and being from Baton Rouge also helps. If Aranda becomes the HC, I see Carter and Jones being kept. Aranda recommended Jones, and he could continue to learn under Aranda until becoming self-sufficient. Peetz can go; we need someone who can also develop quarterbacks.

Just looking at field coaches:

Mickey
Davis
Faulk - a little shaky choice, but legacy
Raymond
Carter
Maybe Baker
McMahon? The kicking game and coverage is good, but our return game is awful.

A lot of the assistant coaches fall into the “should be retained” category especially if it’s Aranda or Brady. At the same time I’d rather a new coach comfortably hire his own staff.

I’d think Davis, Carter and Raymond have the best chance of hanging around. Maybe Joseph.
