I don't really know much about him except this is his second year here and not the most impressive resume as far as DC's are concerned. Is he qualified to be the DC, I think this would be a pretty lazy hire personally but that's what I said about Steve and it has worked out pretty well so who knows.

Umm...what?!?

This was Busch’s 2nd season here, not first. He was one of the big reasons for putting Burrow on LSU’s radar and helping in recruit him.

He has very little experience as a DC. Was a Co-DC and was bumped back at Utah State. If we are not hiring a proven DC, I would rather Raymond. He has waited his time and earned the chance. He is DBU, he will be loyal and have pride in the product he puts on the field. I hope they do give to Raymond and let him pick his own staff and give him every chance to succeed. Bring in a stud DL and LB coached and We Comin.

I think I agree with you, Raymond would be very motivated to prove he deserved the job but I still personally hope we bring in some outside help.

Risky hire imo. He is a great recruiter and knows the scheme but how can he evaluate film, game plan, make adjustments etc. Only the guys that work with him know that. Personally I am not sure we have to take a gamble on a guy. I think we can hire someone who has been/is a proven DC.

But I wouldn't bash the hire if that's their guy. It just means after 2 years they have seen what they needed to see.

Could make Busch and Raymond co-dc with Busch calling plays.. satisfies Raymond. Just a thought

I think it comes down to Richard or Busch. Take look abound, there is a growing trend with programs that successfully promote from within- Coaches O, Lincoln Riley, Dabo, Day at OSU - I realize that these are HC’s but the concept applies.

I see no reason to make Busch the DC over Raymond. What has he done sucessful other then be a DB coach and we know Aranda liked him? Aranda is gone, yesterdays news. We need to upgrade or promote from within and I don't think we need a guys who is not vested in the program. Busch has had the reins as a DC and lost them at Utah State. I would rather Richard or Raymond or go spend the Money on a proven DC Grantham or Shoop would be top of my list.
