He’s not that huge of a risk since even if he flames out he’ll have the team loaded with talent. Say what you want about O but it’s not like he’s leaving the new coach a bunch of scrubs.

I provided my reason in another thread. I have had those thoughts myself. I believe the reason is to allow Ed to complete the season and be out and then announce Chris as the replacement. Think about this, he is everything an LSU fan wants, he has been an offensive coordinator and head coach and a hell of a recruiter.
With all the talking heads, sports shows & podcasts, talking about or against letting coaches go in mid season, I think Woodward just wants to cool that by not announcing Chris at this time.

But Ed is out anyway, I'd be more than happy with Peterson, I still think it would have been more advantageous for us to announce Chris sooner rather than later, with recruiting in mind

I don’t disagree. I’m not the one making the decision and the one that is making the decision, is not going to say anything, until the timing is right and I wouldn’t bet on him providing a reason at that time. I figure that when he announces Chris Petersen, It’s not gonna matter to anyone why he delayed the announcement. I don’t think it totally about Ed, I think it’s respect for the players too.

Our next Coach will be Billy Napier....take it to the bank....he checks all the box that matters only to Scott Woodward....its going make alot of head on Tigerdroppings explode and alot of people in Lafayette's heads are going to explode but I promise you you'll get over the shock and we be playing for Championships for next 20 yrs....

I would expect him to run an organized program and recruit well. He’s not my first choice, but I wouldn’t hate the hire.
