Well, I remember when the board absolutely melted over Kevin Steele.

It was a huge melt. Look at his Baylor record. Look at WV put 60 on him at Clemson. He winded up being pretty good.
Hell, people melted about Steve E, Micky Joseph, Todd Monken when Les was considering promoting to OC. People melted over Les and O being hired, we got two more N.C. And our only two undefeated seasons.
At the end of the day, none of us are qualified to know if this will be good or bad. Let’s just see how the team performs and wait to pass judgement. Every coach that became great or failed had to have someone believe in them and give them their shot.

Hell, I remember people melting over Saban! "He's overrated! We beat his arse in the Independence Bowl, he sucks!" I just shook my head.
And, no, I am absolutely not comparing Jones to Saban, just pointing out that the melters have always been out there, they just have a place to do it together now, like a fondue pot.

He got paid by Auburn. Steele was second highest paid coordinator going into this season only behind Sark.

He was here for 1 season. The year before he got here LSU had the 4th total defense in the country. The year after he left LSU has the 5th total defense in the country. Want to guess where Steele’s defense ranked? 41st.
He was objectively horrible here and kept one of Miles’s best offenses from making some noise with his terrible defense.

Speak for yourself, as far as accomplishments, this coach should never have been interviewed. Can he succeed yes, but it will be a long haul in recruiting. He has nothing hanging on his walls to tip the scales his way.
