This is a Top 10 in the nation job. You don’t hire someone to “give them a shot”.

Why on earth would we take a chance on another head coach with a flat out poor record against big time opponents?

A coach at a top 5 program vs a coach at a top 35 program have different expectations on which games they should win.

The issue isn’t that Brian Kelly couldn’t win big games. It was why he couldn’t win big games. Which boiled down to flaws in hiring coaches & effort in recruiting.

And just 9 games (make that 10 tonight) as DC.

And inherited an already great defense. He has no history of being able to create success

Why on earth would we take a chance on a 1st yr NFL DC who has zero head coaching experience & whose only qualification is he played here?

Detroit has drafted well in the last few years and I think Sheppard is benefiting from that also.

I would be very open to giving Sheppard a shot if we bring in an innovative OC

Just

fricking

Stop

The dude was given the keys to a good defense who had an ungodly amount of injuries last season including their franchise DE.

He has built absolutely nothing and has arguably the best leader in the nfl as a head coach instilling an amazing culture. How about the guy do something at a less than ideal situation for at least a season before we just make him a HC.

I could give two shits if he’s a “tiger” or knows what that means.

I’m sure a guy that was a multiple year starter here and won a natty for the university understands what it means to be a Tiger

That doesn’t mean he understands what it takes to build a college football program into a yearly contender especially one that sits in a totally different landscape than the one he played in. Coaching a unit and running an entire program are vastly different things.
