they must be pumped about the bigger conference money at their disposal. i thought he had them on the up and up (esp for a cheap hire a few years ago)

The Pac-12 turnover is insane. Lane Kiffin is the second most senior coach in the Pac-12 South

damn the pac 12 has a coaching bloodbath on their hands.

They were the least talented BCS team I've ever seen a couple year ago. It was mindblowing how bad they were. At least this year they were competative and have some playmakers like Marquess Wilson. I'm not sure quite what they expect

Could see them going after Erickson of Bellotti

He was 9-40. The fans were bailing and even though there was some improvement, at the end of the day he was still 9-40. The worst stretch in WSU history and probably one of the worst in Pac-12 history.

Leaf at least will work for some Lortab out of the training office

Mike Price. Several new gentlemen's clubs in the area that weren't there last time around.

He basically bashed that job on ESPNU today, FWIW.

Mike Price.
I know you're joking, but don't be surprised if this happens.
He won over 50% of his games, and won the Pac 10 twice in the west coast equivalent of Starkville. The guy was hugely popular (and rightfully so) in Pullman. I could see him back there.

i don't know if anybody other than elite coaches could do any better
not only is this WSU, but he took over at their low point

I don't know much about Wulff. Perhaps he is a great guy with a great story but he sounded overly dramatic:
quote:
"The great thing about Washington State University and being a Cougar is we don't do it like everybody else," Wulff said, his voice thick with emotion. "We stick together and don't eat our own.
"I believe the innocence of WSU has been lost today," Wulff said.

Looking back, I'm really amazed at what Mike Price did at WSU -- twice going to the Rose Bowl and recruiting and developing a guy like Ryan Leaf.
His records at Weber State and UTEP are mediocre, though, so I wonder who he had as assistants at WSU.

Their stadium is awful. They really need a renovation:
I have heard that Washington State gets a tiny fraction of the state funding that UW receives.

When that was brought up on ESPNU Belotti said he use to sign 40 players a year and see who actually showed up. He implied they didn't care if a kid showed up for a season or two and flunked out because they didn't have to deal with APR back then.

This was his dream job. He played for WSU back in the day. But yeah, a little bit of a stretch there for him.

They are in the process of renovating it in stages. They are trying to raise money for their next phase, but the support just isn't there. The fan base needs a shot in the arm.

As far as athletics are concerned, UW is completely self sufficient where WSU actually needs state aid to keep their athletic programs going. Not entirely sure about the academic side, so I won't even try to guess on that.
