Why would Petersen take the UW job after he just pulled his name from the USC pool. Am I missing something here?

He doesn't want the lights and pressure of SC. Wash would be a better fit for him.

maybe he likes the NW and isn't a fan of the hype that comes with being USC's head coach. Being the head coach at USC is the highest profile sports job in the LA.

Petersen doesn't have to interview for the job. He has to make a list of demands and see if UW will meet them. He could have the job with a phone call saying "i'll take it"
