Was there really a coaching search or not?

I searched the board but didn't see this question answered.

Did Alleva really have an extensive HC search or just hoped coach O would win the support of LSU fans then kind of panicked when he blew the Florida game and threw out some last minute offers to a few coaches?
Seems like the latter to me.

There was no search. There was never going to be a real search. They presented an illusion of a real search, but they knew they were going cheap the entire time. When a deal got close to being done with Herman, Alleva got scared and reacted like a fricking child.

I seriously doubt it. When he gave his little statement last week relative to what he was looking for, he basically described O. I believe his "search" consisted of a couple of offers to Fisher and Herman without really fighting for either one, then hiring O.

The plan was to hire O as long as he won all the games except Bama, When he lost to Florida he had to scramble and start a search.

Jimbo was never really an option- you can't out Sexton Sexton,

He made a run at Herman and should have reeled him in, but fumbled the last conversation.

We have a coach now, we move on . Question is why do we still have our AD? Check his contract and you will find the answer

If you listened to Joe Alleva's press conference it is apparent that there never was a serious search. He said they only offered the job to one guy, Ed Orgeron, and that they had their man all along. In essence, the job was O's to lose. If he did halfway decent then he was in; if he totally bombed, he was out.

Looks like Coach O was Alleva's guy all along and this was the direction he wanted to go. We will probably never know the full story but it appears like there never was a serious coaching search. We had over two months to do this and on Friday, Ed Orgeron's notebook binder impressed Alleva so much he hired him!!!

I'm not saying Coach O won't do a good job but it is a joke to think that in one interview on Friday the deal was sealed. That only happens if there is nothing else in place.

If the "rumors" are true about a verbal with Herman and then Alleva backing out Saturday morning, (I don't believe any of that), then Herman should be glad he didn't come to LSU. Alleva is a weak, spineless leader that needs to go. I'm sure Herman would not have enjoyed working for him.

DALSU was actually correct until the last minute BS happened between Herman and Alleva late Friday night.

Of course there was a search. The searchs initials are JA. Here's his reaction when Orgeron said yes to him

I've been waiting for you to show up.

I apologize for trying to defend Alleva last year. I was wrong. Dude has to be fired, and very soon!

Pull up the audio of what Alleva told Orgeron on the field after they beat Mizzou. It was, "that's one!" Alleva was fully on the O train from the start and was hoping Orgeron won enough games to win the job.

There was no real coaching search.

No wonder, so basically a week arse AD never made a serious run at any other coach hence the reason Fisher or Herman didn't take LSU seriously.

Can't say I blame them.

Let's just pray Alleva's big gamble pays off if not LSU could be going backwards again.

That's so disheartening. Never gonna turn my back on the tigers but man if the plan was just to hope O won all but bama game and promote him without even looking around at candidates. After 12 years of miles?? That was the plan?

Yea I need to reevaluate my emotional investment in lsu sports
