Was naming Ed iHC a good idea?

You had to fire Les now if you were going to fire him. An interim had to be named but did it have to be Ed? If you want to win now, then maybe but not if you have any intention of hiring another coach. Look at USC. Ed wanted the job. His team loved him. USC has not been the same since he left. He was offered a spot but was hurt and left. If LSU doesn't hire him, he will leave hurt. The players will be loyal. And it will take a long time to cycle out the players under Les. They are already hurt by losing Les. Now they will be hurt by losing Ed too. The only way you justify not hiring him is if he bombs. The only reason he is iHC is to make the team competitive. If he does it undercuts your new guy.
tl;dr Hiring Ed as interim was a bad idea if you don't name him HC.

I'm sure Alleva and O have already had this discussion. If he does a good job he definitely deserves consideration but in the end you have to go with the best candidate.

Coach o is obviously gunning for the job, but that's what he should do and in Lsu's best interest.
Fans and players will hopefully buy into his plan, but my fear is that the Lsu powers will mistake that for everyone wanting to keep O just like they mistook miles' fair well send off at the A&M game as people wanting to keep Miles.
Would be like hiring mike archer.

Coach O has 5 yrs of major college HC experience...he has done the Interim before...recruiting wise he brings some form of continuity...it was a God send he was here when all of this went down

and bobby, who is cousins, former teammates and good friends with O said, he couldn't be mad if lsu went the direction of an offensive minded coach after what we've been witnessing.
doesn't mean O would be happy, or even stay, but someone who could easily knight for O, came with logic. (bobby had logic???) lol he did for a moment.
