But I also think the Pac12 is historically down this season.

This is also the worst the SEC has been in a decade. That didn't stop this admin for giving O the job for going 5-2 without beating a single team that will be ranked at the end of the year and losing to the only two ranked teams we played (assuming UF stays ranked after their arse whipping from Bama

Why would Alleva consider a successful up and coming coach?

Meh. It's all semantics. At what point does negotiations not essentially mean you're offering someone the job without an actual piece of paper stating such?

If you believe this tweet: LINK

He was included in our "next three" choices. I sincerely doubt we actually had a list that extended beyond Orgeron, though.

So if we had lost to A&M there's at least a chance we would have hired Fleck?

Why have a three?

Was O going to turn it down, he was basically a coach with no options, no other opportunity, shite his position coach job wasn't even guaranteed!

A 89 year old man came in and improved the play if his position group at that.

TIer 3, lol

We went from Tier 1 to Tier 15

He had 8+ weeks to get something lined up so LSU was on the front foot heading forward. He bungled it.

Yeah I think most fans would be more acceptable with the O hire had we at least interviewed a few more potential candidates like Fleck or Fedora or MacIntyre or Gundy and came back with a thoughtful evaluation on why those guys didn't qualify them over O. Even doing that didn't justify hiring O, but at least we know Alleva tried to do the right thing.

I have a feeling P.J. Fleck and Mike MacIntyre will be next year's "Tom Herman", and it will be helluva harder and costly to get them when they become truly "proven". Had we fired Miles last year and secure Herman back then, it would be a whole different story at this point. I know it's easier said than done, but a successful AD normally possesses instincts like a business man where he is able to make informative gambles and act proactively ahead of everyone else. We did that when we hired Saban, but I guess Alleva just doesn't have the killer instinct to pull a string like that.

Great post. Alleva is a cuck pussy

He would have been better than O but MacIntrye needs to have another big season next year to be high on coaching lists. Hiring a coach after one big year is not a good idea.
