That's where Malz will get his start. Pitt is a BCS school and is a great place for Malz to start his Head Coaching career at. If he is an innocent bystander, and I don't think he is, like some AU fans claim then this is the opening made just for him.

He is still living off what he did under Jimmy Johnson in 1991/1992.

Please no to Malz.
He is a product of Cam Newton, not the other way around.

Pitt would be lucky to get him. As long as Pitt is in the Big East, it will be nothing more than a stepping stone school. Gus could use Pitt on his way to building his resume.

Born, did you ever clarify about the questionable recruiting practices at Auburn? Do you really think there is anything that's going to bust them for this season?
My feeling is that the SEC and NCAA will hide everything on this to prevent the embarrassment of Auburn winning the title (should they) and having to vacate it later.

Personally, I think Pitt is a sleeping giant with the right coach. Strong recruiting base, winnable conference...all you need is a few good classes and seasons and you rule the Big East.

he would be a better fit at wvu for many more reasons

Perhaps, but as long as they're in the Big East, they won't attract the top coaches. Any coach with some success will leave for a school in a bigger/better conference. Pitt's recruiting classes won't consistently be as deep for the same reasons.

They were with the Stache.

As of now, you can win a NC at Pitt. Pennsylvania is loaded with talent. I don't believe they will take over Penn State up there, but there is no reason why this shouldn't be a consistant top 15-20 team in the country. Win Big East championships, play in BCS bowls and the recruits will come. Pitt has much more potential than West Virginia and TCU.

hard to do with no real fan support

You said it better than I could. He could win a BCS bowl and beating the powerhouse team like TCU would be great resume highlights.

I never fully understood this until I moved from Baton Rouge (all LSU and nothing else) to Houston where its all pro sports. Rice, UH, and even UT are afterthoughts here.

Anyway...I digress...If Pitt can get over that hurdle, I think they have some of be biggest upside of anyone right now. Get a good coach to come in, demand better facilities, bring in recruits, and win titles. It would have to be a guy similar to Saban that comes in demands better facilities, better support, and lays the foundation.
I also think this about Cincinnati, but I think Pitt is in a better spot right now.

Yes, I do. I think the NCAA already has enough evidence right now but they will drag the investigation out 18 to 24 months. This will soften some of the sting those AU cheaters will bring to the SEC. IMHO. I would hope they get the death penalty.

you obviously have no idea what youre talking about.
if yall were lucky enough to rent him for a few years, yall would destroy the big east and only have TCU as a road block.

All im saying is its going to be hard for pitt to do anything when no one goes to the game and backs the program, any decent coach will get frustrater and leave esp if he turns them around. The struggled to sell tickets in last seasons 10 win year one of their best in a long time.
The highest atteneted home games over the past few years are
2010 WVU 60,562
2009 ND 65,374
2009 Cincy 63,387
2008 WVU 63,019
2006 WVU 55,642
The trend is they only have decent turn at the gate when the visiting team with a good traveling fan base shows up
and they have amazing facilities since they use everything the steelers basically use

Pitt's facilities rival that of any team in the country.
