oh...ok. I quit listening at around 5. I guess it can't be any worse than what they had.

give kubiak another 5 years in houston while we retool the D, then his O will need retooling and this frickstick will never win a playoff game in houston. FACT.

what a waste

I'm guessing this is why they kept kubiak

no- they did that b/c kubiak is a bob mcnair project. he interviewed him in 01 before he hired dom capers. when he interviewed him again in late 05, he hadnt gotten another interview with another team. bob mcnair is got to prove he is smarter than everyone else and keep kubiak until the season ticket holder list starts to thin

and b/c mcnair was stupid enough to give him an extension at the end of last year despite not making the playoffs

That's actually a really good hire. Houston reminds me a lot of the Saints in 2007. Inconsistent offense with tons of potential and no defense. Then we bring in Gregg Williams and the rest is history. Kubiac is not the problem, they are missing a few players here and there, but they are missing defense most of all.

The problem is a couple things.

1. The reason it is probably a decent idea to keep Kubiak this season is the reason it is a dumb one to hire Wade Phillips. THE POSSIBLE LOCKOUT. It is very possible that any new coach will have very little time with his new team going into next season. Changing directions drastically for a team like the Texans...a team that should be a playoff team...with very little lead time is a bad idea. Because of this it is a better plan to bring in a better DC and fix the problems there. HOWEVER...the Texans are a 4-3 team...Phillips is a 3-4 coach. So we end up with a radical system change with no lead time anyway...but the same head coach who has proven in five years to be at best average. DUMB OWNER.

2. Also the Texans are soft. Whether they brought in a new head guy or a new DC they needed an Arse-kicker type...not a another coach known for being soft. DUMB OWNER.

He really wasn't a good HC, an the Texans could actually win their division if they ever play defense an learn to stop PM from putting up fifty on them.
