For the most part they are happy for him, but I am concerned about the comments about his D on third and long situations. Its also kind of funny that they think Ed O is a lock to them. They are going to be shocked if belowpar is accurate(as always).

Spurrier once said his favorite offensive play against Tennessee was 3rd and 15.

Coach O doesn't want to move. belowpar is always right. Until he says otherwise, O is coming to LSU.

Just out of curiosity, why would O leave a d-line position in the NFL for one in college? He has connections with Kiffin, who has been keeping close contact with him, and may very well be in line for the DC job at Tennessee depending on how long Monte hangs around.

He misses recruiting and teaching college athletes. He might just miss the culture of college football. The money will be good if he comes here and he could stay in his home state.

GoBigOrange-the reason he would leave the NFL for LSU OR Tenn is because he loves to recruit.

I don't know. I feel middle-of-the-road about his chances of coming here. But alot of Tennessee fans, including some who should theoretically know something, are much more enthusiastic about our chances.

O isn't going to UT. Granted they need him more and they are probably offering more money (trying to buy relevance rarely works) but O isn't moving his family for a 3rd time in 3 years. It just isn't happening. O will be at LSU.

Their view, at least as reflected onh the UT message board, seems to be based on a conclusion that Chavis would not have agreed to work with Orgeron. What's the reason for this conclusion?

That I don't know, unless it is because Chavis wanted to bring in his own guys, which I know he does. Miles may have agreed to this in order to lure him to LSU.

Coach O's agent is Sexton: $$$$$ will talk, count on it. Also, the talk shows in N.O. are claiming that Coach O leaving the Saints is a mutual decision. So, IF that is the case, it will come down to LSU's vs UT's $$$$.

we all know what a smart-arse the ole ball coach is (btw - i like him). He really liked to put Tennesse down. "You can't spell Citrus without UT." Yeah. Fulmer was his whipping boy.
Besides, many times the DC is doing what the head coach wants philosophically. Fulmer was very conservative and always going to go with the law of averages. Coach Chavis is capable of scheming and bringing the heat in that situation if Lesticles gives him the green lite. I believe he will get it.

Didn't he basically say they were haggling over money? I.e., it's not a done deal and it's possible he could stay with the Saints or go to Tenn.
