Ole Miss analysis is off. Neither Stong nor Wilson stand out. No one is talking them up.

Florida is delusional thinking they can get Taggart.

Are you sure? I figure Taggart would consider both UF and FSU as a dream job.

People are batshit crazy if they don't think taggart would take the Florida job. But I think they hire frost.

Yep. I'd like Wilson to get some P5 experience, just not in the SEC.

(I think Frank Wilson will be the HC at LSU some day, FWIW)

Why any coach would go there with the NCAA sword hanging over it's neck escapes me.

I guess having a built-in excuse to not succeed is inviting, but I would think the Rebels/Bears/Landsharks would be wiser to stick with Luke and let him limp along until the sanctions are about to run and then bring in a guy.

I think so too. Fit, timing and $s align very well.

Frost and his lovely wife have a new baby; loads of talent in FL to fit his offensive style; he won't have to travel much to recruit. Solid DC in place at UF with SEC experience and great FL recruiting ties.

Frost seems like a bright guy who would realize UF is a smarter move than Nebraska.

I think the difference in cost to get Frost vs Taggart is why Frost is UF's #1 target and Taggart is #2.

Randy Shannon is terrible and it would be an awful decision by the AD to force him onto whichever new coach. He's only a solid DC when he has elite talent to work with, and guess who is the absolute worst recruiter on the UF staff currently outside of old man Nord? Dirty Randy.

This is how the AD responded to that rumor:

Well, perhaps I assumed too much. Is he really a terrible recruiter? Was he implicated by the NCAA as being involved in the violations at Miami? Even if he's viewed by UF as a great clean recruiter and solid DC, I doubt UF would try to force Frost to keep Shannon.

There are a few ACs we would like to keep but at the same time wouldnt have a problem with the new HC cleaning house.

well of course it is

still being the hero that returns your alma mater to prominence is a draw. How feasible is that? Who knows but I'm sure its appealing to Frost.

Mullen's name just keeps popping up like a dirty penny. IDK if Sexton is just trying damn hard to get Mullen a raise or whether there's legit interest with Mullen to UT.

If Frost is UF's #1 choice it will be interesting to see what decision he makes - heart vs. head. The better job if he wants to win big is UF. But a Nebraska native getting the chance to lead his Alma Mater back to greatness seems like it would be tough to turn down.

One year ago Taggart accepts the UF job yesterday! Now, does he leave Oregon after one season? UO has resources. They've shown with the right coach they can compete for national titles. I don't see him leaving UO after just one season, but you never know. He's a Florida native.

At Ole Miss, Strong may want a better job than USF, but I don't think he really wants to go to Ole Miss. There was talk of some "outside of football" issues re: Strong as a black man (maybe not true, or completely overblown by the perpetually aggrieved media) and if so, is Oxford, MS a place he really wants to go? Also, Frank Wilson's connections with Ed Ogeron may hurt his chances at Ole Miss. The school may say "we don't want to try the Ogeron-esque route again (i.e. hiring a guy known primarily for his recruiting prowess)

At UT there is NO WAY they retain Jones. I don't care what he does the rest of the way and what their recruiting class may currently look like. That relationship is over. As long as UT has a job opening Jon Gruden's name will always come up. Mullen's name seems to surface for just about every SEC job that comes available...and he's still at MSU. I think his "interest" is more of Mullen and his agent wanting to get out of Starkville vs. other SEC schools actually having interest in Mullen

Wonder if Chip Kelly would go back to Oregon if Taggart leaves?

He knows he hit his ceiling at UO

As for the recruiting class... We've had more than one recruit indicate that they committed to the school not the coach so I don't think the admin is even considering that angle. Also, we likely regain Cade Mays and a few others once the coaching situation is settled. CBJ's been gone since the UGA game. There was never any turning back.

The question for me regarding Mullen is whether or not he really would take the next step at a bigger gig with better recruiting classes or is his average win total something that's just him. IOW, can Mullen win the SEC at UT?
